Leaf spring TSB for 2013 Tacoma?

4x2 Prerunner Double Cab - 1430 lbs payload.

600 lb motorcycle...bumpstops. Hence the TSB for 3 leafs.

When I bought my truck I was informed (prior to doing any homework) that it had at least a 1000 lb payload in the bed, so a motorcycle wouldn't tax the suspension at all ( questions I asked when I bought the truck)

 

Ok, 600lbs+220lbs(me)+ I'll even give you 100 lbs of assorted change and random shit I keep in the truck. Still only at 920. About 500 lbs short of capacity. Oh yea, that's why those leafs suck...

 

I'm not bashing on Toyota or Tacomas, I'm bashing on the poorly designed leaf springs. If you use a tacoma anything like a truck, you're facing premature wear on the springs, and that's without exceeding or even coming close to 'payload capacity'. Then you can get a trade in for an extra leaf, and get maybe another year out of the new springs before those too are flat and worthless.

maybe it’s a typo idk but 1400lbs is almost 3/4 ton area. F150’s aren’t rated that high.

Looks like 1250 or so is the payload.

 

In that case the tacoma has as much payload as a 4x4 tundra with the 5.7 liter

 

Are you being serious or what, because I literally just pulled that off of the Toyota website.

I guess that's a typo as well.

 

I’m serious, Thats what it says the tundra’s payload is like 1340 or something. I doubt the tundra can even handle that much weigh without sagging an bottoming out. I had a rock warrior and i know it wouldn’t handle that much.

 

Then you're just reinforcing the point that Toyota leafs are junk and cannot handle the payload they say they can.

 

tundra is a half ton, so i wouldn’t expect it to handle over 1,000lbs max

 

It can tow a lot though
