    Hey folks,

We have had a few pretty heavy downpours today. Saw that my rear seats are drenched. Yes, windows up, sunroof closed, doors closed.

Pulled the seats forward and everything behind them is drenched as well. I do not see the water entry point. There are two tiny drops of water at the very top of the window frame on the inside, but nothing on the glass and nothing at the bottom of the frame. The seat surface is drenched and the space behind the seats looks like it was hosed down. Space around the sunroof is dry.

    I'd appreciate any thoughts/insight/experience!

    Jim

Rained hard here today. No water inside. Time for a trip to the dealer.

I'd guess the cab vents on the lower back wall or a bad rear window seal.

Seat surface will NOT get water from the rear cab vents... Gotta be the hole in the roof man...

Whaaaaattttt. A Tacoma with a leak. Nooooo!

Where's @Scooter62 when you need him. You should trade it for a Ford Ranger.

I kid, I kid...just goes to show no first model year vehicle is perfect. Not even Toyotas.

That's what factory warranties are for. Sorry your having a leak. Know that what ever the issue, it's under warranty and Toyota will repair and replace anything and everything that was damaged.

Don't freak and trade it in for a 4 banger yet.

The drain tubes from the sunroof should drain out the bottom.
Unless they are not routed correctly.
    Ouch

Off to the dealer for that warranty you paid big bucks for.

Please post results of what they find.

Hopefully it will be something simple, and not the oft heard 'they all do that'.

Um, the warranty is already in place with a new Toyota.

Now I'll wait for my economics lesson from you saying the warranty is built into the price

I'll let you all know what transpires. I'm not a huge fan of sending it in without an idea of what is happening so I'm going to hose it down and see if I can find a leak. I'd rather be able to tell them where the water is coming from than just set them loose on my new truck!

No it doesn't. Every car, regardless of first or 10th year, has issues, especially leaky seals.

My buddies 2013 taco had a cab leak bad on him, entire inside molded out.

I'm pretty sure cab leaks are incredibly common on the GM twins as well, one of the biggest issues w/ them right now.

    10 to 1.

Some already mentioned. 10 people complain about their issues to the 1 that has had no issues.

Every car new or old has issues. More prominent in the first model years.

I bought my wife a 2013 Infiniti JX35. First model year. A/C squeal, dash rattles, gasoline guage inaccurate, oh...and the transmission, repaired three times.

It was so bad I told Nissan/Infiniti that was going to file lemon law.

They called me from the dealership a week later and offered to buy the vehicle back. Full retail, and sold me a 2014 {second year} at manufacturer cost.

    Out standing customer service.

The new 2014 JX has had 2 recalls, one for a transmission ecm reprogram and another for an airbag reprogram.

Besides that, its been flawless. Not a squeak, pop, rattle, squeal, check engine light.

Completely different vehicle. The Tacoma will work out its issues. The Colorado will work out its issues. Every car will have them, that's what warranties are for.

You want flawless, buy a 2015 Taco.

I had a Dodge Ram 1500 that had a bad leak coming from the gasket on the brake light on top of cab. Maybe check there. Good luck

All of that is irrelevant. My buddy's 2015 taco has had more problems than my 2016. Granted my 2016 hasn't had any problems, but still. I wouldn't call that flawless at all.

You're reaching here, and dangerously approaching BlueT terroritory. Every car is bound to have problems. Saying something is flawless when it has known issues just reeks of desperation.

My 2010 f150 that happened. Third brake light gasket leaked into the headliner and soaked the seats. Couldn't buy a gasket. Had to buy a lamp assembly for $ 160. Said no thanks and siliconed it back together. Good as new ;)
