LED conversion from hell

I just wired the a LED panel to the metal brackets(with duck tape!) and then installed the old light also. (wrapped in duck tape to cut off the ulgy yellow light). No more flicker and works with door open, just like it should.

 

I'd REALLY like to see that fix, since this problem is the only reason I haven't converted my dome and map lights to LEDs. Based on the fact LEDs draw less power than regular bulbs, I suspect some type of load resistor might solve the problem, but they tend to get pretty hot and I have no idea what kind/size to try.

Can you post brand, part number, and (maybe even) photos?

 

I got those led through a company that is banned from Tw. I'll get pictures tomorrow or when I go out to my truck

 

We're talking about LED's, the regular bulbs work fine.

 

I just read something on here today about people having problems with thier dome lights not coming on at full juice. One guy said that he used a 2 - 100ohm resistors for the dome and 2 - 100 ohm resistors for the map lights and that fixed the problem for him.

 

is there an actual write up on changing cluster lights to LED's?

 

theres one over on custom taco's i think. it's relativly easy, only tricky part for me was being careful to not bend or break any of the plastic pieces in the dash.

 

subd would like to know the fix as well, led map and dome is coming soon to a theater near me... haha actually just coming soon to my truck.
