I understand it fairly well. It's just a bit different than the arena I work in as it's projection more than sheer lumen flood. And I'm wanting to balance output with life longevity as well as staying in the H11 venue. Some of the original links to bulbs are no longer available on Amazon.

I just put 3 sets of hikari hyperstar acme-x in low/high and fogs. They are great! They are a huge improvement. Do dark spots, good cutoff and havent been flashed once, which says alot because i drive hilly, curvy country roads in the dark twice a day with a constant stream of opposite traffic. I highly recommend them.

The Philips GT Racingvision +200 H11 is rated for 400hrs, compared to the 250 of most of the other performance H11's. Crash'a testing showed it performed similar to the older Philips +150 H11. Both Philips and Osram made some adjustments to how they measure their performance bulbs a while back.

IIRC the H9 beats it handily. And at $10/bulb, a set of those is cheap enough to replace once a year before they burn out, compared to $35+ a pair for performance H11's.

Note the Philips Pro +200s are H4, the highest the Pros go in H11 is +150. I’d have to double check the life on those bulbs.

The line through the name means he won’t be responding anytime soon. But nothing in the $40 price range as he listed is going to be any good.

Philips H11 Pro +150 are 400 hours as well, or about 2 years.

I was going to experiment with LEDs but then I saw a new Tacoma at a local gas station trying to scrape snow and ice from around his headlights. LEDs won’t heat up and melt slushy headlights. Not worth trouble to me living in the North. I ended up buying some better and brighter replacements from NAPA for low beams.

I actually just ordered Tungsram H11 Nighthawk Xenon Halogen Bulbs from eBay. I am still learning about lighting but I’m going to use these in the low beams until I learn more on modifying for H9’s.

Correct, LEDs will not clear snow.

Edit: See comparison temps in post #2195 here.

Those are outstanding H11 bulbs. You can get better results with H9s, but those will be a major improvement over stock. Several 3rd Gen owners have reported their headlights aimed low from the factory, so that could be something to double check too. There should be about a 2” drop in your headlight cut offs from 25’.

Thank you for the reply! As far as adjusting my headlights, how far back from a wall and how high should the cutoff be at?

Also, am I understanding correctly that I can use those same Nighthawk Xenon H11’s in the fog lights also?

Depends on the trim level. Low trim may come with plastic fog light housing and a lower wattage bulb. Check the bulb you have. If 55 w, then yes.

2" drop at 25'. Find a level spot, pull the truck right up to the wall, mark your headlight cut off and backup 25'. The cut off should drop 2" drop from you previous marking. If not, adjust up/down till it does.

As mentioned it depends on your trim.

    Non-Canadian trucks:
16-19 TRD trucks take H11 fogs
20-current TRD trucks take H16 fogs
    16-current non-TRD trucks take H16 fogs
    All Canadian trucks:
    16-current take H16 fogs

So if you have a 16-19 TRD non-Canadian truck, the yes it can use those H11s in the fogs.

The Tungsram Platinums covered in post #4997 are slightly better than the Xenons and often a little cheaper if looking for another set of bulbs. The Xenons are a solid choice though.

Does this formula also work for lifted trucks?

Perfect explanation! I will do that measurement.

I have a 2022 TRF Off-road so it looks like mine will have H16. I will search your post to find if you recommend a certain H16. Or does Xenon offer them in an H16?

Quick question regarding changing the high beam bulbs, I assume I can use the Phillips H9 that you linked, correct?
    https://www.amazon.com/Philips-12361B1-Standard-Replacement-Headlight/dp/B003YMPN3A

So for now, I will have the Xenon H11 for the low beam and the Phillips H9 for the high. Then just need to figure out a good H16 bulb for the fogs.
