Hands down, the best $40 interior upgrade you can do. On the exterior, I just put TRD Pro LED foglights in yesterday and the performance is kind of addicting... now looking at in comparison to the headlights, looking into some LED hi and low beams. This was very helpful. Thanks

My LED bulbs washed it out quite a bit as well - adjusting the brightness & contrast of the RV camera solved most of the issue...

    I didn't know I could adjust that. I'll take a look. Thanks!

    HID has the following flaws:
    • Ballasts burn out frequently, cause RF interference, and require large amount of power to start up. Without a relay setup you'll roast your light switch/wiring/BCM.
    • Bulbs will burn the interior of your fixture.
    • HID takes too long to start up, not good for auto headlight setup or flash to pass. (See first bullet point)
    • No effective low/high beam setup. You have to use ridiculous shutter systems or horrendously complicated bi-xenon setups.
    And there you have it.

Well I replaced my map lights and dome light. The maps were no problem at all, but the dome light was not quite right. Remember I measured the dome light bulb I took out and it was 31mm, well, after buying a 30mm and have it fit tight, I relooked at it and the installation. The OEM bulb has small tits on each end that fit into holes/depressions on the mounting fixture so even though I went with a smaller size bulb it was still tight since it did not mate with the hole(s). Lesson learned: Get a 28mm bulb and you will be golden.

Get one of these for your dome light:

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/282161662480

48 LEDS, the bulb adapter is spring loaded so it will fit securely into the clips. Silver clip is positive, gold is negative. Tuck the wires above the clips and secure the LED array to your dome light fixture with the attached 3M tape. This beast will seriously light up your truck's interior and best of all emits little heat! At this price is a no brainer.

Don't waste your time with a "kit" that has a cheapo 31mm LED slug that won't put out 1/4 of the light that this thing does. Enjoy!

i'm really thinking about getting the same HID setup from DD. have you experienced any burning/melting of the interior housing since you put these in?

I have not and I've had these on 3 different vehicles. My 4Runner is going on 2 years using them w/o issue.

had hyper flashing with blinkers while headlights were on when using OP original set up. just changed the rear blinkers back to the factory lights and they work fine now. everything else is still LED.

I had the same thing. I tried multiple LED's and couldn't get it to stop. I swapped out the rear turn signals and it was fine. Everything else is still LED (tail lights).

I'd like to know this as well. I believe our SR5 have different lights than the other trim packages?

I'm new here but just bought a 2017 Tacoma. I've read reports of the LED lights causing electrical issues in the 2016 models. Has anyone had issues in their 2017 trucks after switching? I don't want to invest in LED lights if it'll mess up my truck. Thanks!
