With the cost of a shell why not just get a 4Runner?

Because at the end of the day, you can't remove everything from the B-pillar back on a 4Runner to fit things such as dirtbikes, quads, tall plants for landscaping, etc. Unless you feel realllllly comfortable with a sawzall and welder LOL

Nice and I love the look, but I went and priced one last week and was surprised to see they are now asking $2,700 for them, that's to much for a top.

That looks amazing. I gotta take off the TRD offroad stickers off the side of the bed.

How hard is it to remove a shell? Need two people to get it off right?

That's actually the reason I bought a Tacoma over the 4Runner, but in a lot of ways I think the 4Runner would have met my needs better. I just really love manuals :)

You can't just throw your dirty mountain bike in the back of a 4-Runner.

Hey, I'm planning on buying the XQ myself. A couple of questions:

how did you fill the gap at the sides of the front rail? It there a piece to buy?

Also, did you buy the fancy door lock from your existing key fob thing?

    Thanks

    Mike

    Mike,

I am either really foggy this morning.... well, never mind. What gap are you referring to and what exactly is your second question about?...

Before clarification of my questions to you, my answers are:

    1. I filled no gaps anywhere. The shell was professionally installed and is water tight.
    2. I just lock the rear window with the key. It makes the tailgate inoperable without breaking something. If i need extra security, i lock the tailgate too with the key that Toyota provided me with when i purchased the vehicle.

    Hope that helps.....

I was thinking of the issue here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rubber-plugs-for-gaps-in-bed-rail-available-now.420884/page-2

Did you have to do anything to address this little gap?
