I think I've come to the point where I need to get a topper. After looking around, I've narrowed it down to two, the Leer 100XR or the Leer 100RCC and I'm just looking for owner experiences. I have one Snugtop dealer near me and the price I was quoted was the highest of the three (Snugtop, ARE, Leer) by a lot. ARE was the second highest priced and the dealer was hesitant on me mounting a RTT to hit without getting the HD model. So that leaves the Leer, and I happen to like the look of the Leer the best.

The reason I'm considering the 100RCC is the added rated weight capacity of the roof as I will be carrying a RTT at times. But... the rear door on the 100RCC is a dual-latch w/o the option to tie it in to the keyless system.

The 100XR has the single latch rear door, with available keyless entry but at the expense of a lower capacity roof.

1)Those with a 100RCC, or 100R for that matter, is it annoying having to turn two handles when opening the rear hatch?

2)Those with a 100XR, or 100R for that matter, and have a RTT, are you worried about the weight capacity or have you experienced any issues?

Anything else I should consider? I'll be buying new as finding a used Cavalry Blue topper in my area is proving to be very difficult.

I'm picking up my used 100XR tomorrow so I'll let you know my answer to question #1. I don't have plans for a roof top tent.

My previous Ranch topper had two handles and it did drive me nuts. I got lazy one cold morning and I shut it from the driver side handle and it shattered my hard plastic weather stripping. Three factors that caused the hard plastic to shatter: extreme cold, my laziness from not shutting from the middle and probably some worn out risers.

I've had both and I like them both. I just needed a little extra security. Something as simple as stopping to take a piss while I'm headed to the mountains has me paranoid someone is going to steal my skis, etc.

I have a 100R with an RTT. You get used to the dual handles, but they aren't very secure. I think the single handle lock looks more secure, if break in is a concern.

My RTT is pretty light, maybe 100lbs, and I haven't had any issues yet. However, I haven't gone offroad much with it on yet either. If you plan on offroading alot with it on or have a heavy RTT, I'd go with the 100RCC. Otherwise, I think the 100XR should be fine.

Yeah, I'm thinking the two handles may be annoying. I'm leaning towards the idea of adding keyless entry to the lock if I go with the XR. Have you got a chance to play with you XR yet?

I've got a Tepui Kukenam 3, just the basic model, and it weighs only 108lbs. I don't do a lot of rock crawling, but I do hit mostly forest service roads when we're out. The only thing I'd be putting on the topper is a Prinsu rack and my tent, and only the tent on trip

I've seen that video. Has anyone else had problems with their toppers shifting like his did? I wonder if the added weight contributed.

Picked my 100XR today. I'm definitely digging the one latch.

Looks good! I like the way the windows look on the Leer toppers the best.

Here is my older Leer 100XL (single handle). I load the $hit out of it equipped with roof tracks and standard Yakima bars. Never had any issues and it must be 10-12 years old now.

I have a Leer 100XR with a Prinsu rack, and I would be hesitant to mount a rooftop tent on it. IMO that would be putting a lot of stress on the fiberglass shell.

The Leer 100RCC is just the commercial version of the 100R, with flip-out side panels instead of windows. I don't see why it would carry more weight than a regular 100R, or a 100XR. (The difference between those two being a single handle versus dual handles on the back door.)

This is year 2 with having a topper (Leer 100XR) with a RTT. No issues with structural integrity and nothing has ever come loose, even after some moderate wheeling with the tent on.

I decided not risk any structural damage to my 100xr with my roof top tent setup. I purchased some internal supports from a company in Australia. ( Milford Loadmax)

They are attached to the base of my rack towers through the ceiling and sit on the bed rails. The weight of the tent Is transfered to the bed rather then just on fiberglass top. No issues to report so far
