Been wanting to get a topper of some type for my 06 AC. Was pretty much sold on a softopper but really have other things I should be spending my money on. Stumbled upon this topper for sale about an hour and a half from me and curious what you guys think? Only thing I’m not crazy about is it will probably look a little goofy on my desert sand mica truck. He’s asking 650 and already got him down to 550. Somebody please talk me into this or talk me out of it lol.

Solid deal. I would jump on that asap.

I bought the larger leer for 700 a year ago for something that needed way more work than that thing. I had to repair the rear T handles/mechanism, carpet interior, and plug a hole in the top. I still feel like I got a good deal lol.

If you're looking to camp out of the back of your truck I wholeheartedly believe that a camper shell is the easiest, cheapest, and most effective way to do it. RTT are just a pain to deal with in my opinion and after it is all said and done I think it is more expensive (racks, mounts, etc.). Not to mention a RTT takes time to put away and setup at camp whereas a shell is literally good to go when you park the truck. The only type of camping set up that is better is something like a GFC or other drop in camper, but the cost/weight are huge issues in my opinion.

I camp about 30 nights a year out of my truck, plus another 30 sleeping on the ground (backpacking, rafting, etc.) So I like to think I have a stake in establishing my opinion.

Very seldom can a topper be had for under $1000 used, when they're in good condition. I would absolutely jump on it!

Camper shell FTMFW! $550 is a great deal for this shell. It appears to be in great condition and you'll even have the tracks on top to install a rack should you desire. Offer $500 cash but buy it for $550 either way before someone else does.

Here’s the voice of experience in doing long distance buys. Tell him you’re driving 1 1/2 hours to get it and you would appreciate it if he didn’t sell it 5 minutes before you got there. Tell him you will call him when you’re in your truck ready to head down the road. Tell him you’ll call him again when you’re about 1/2 way there.

If it is in reasonably good shape, it is a very good deal for the price! I would buy it. You could prolly make a few bucks on it if you decide to sell it later on.
I paid about 3K for a new one.

That screw for the roof rack looks rusty is it leaky in the rain? You'd have to fix that...

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
The washers inside the cap on my topper get rusty. I think it is a condensation thing. From the metal bolt outside penetrating into a slightly warmer space. Mine doesn't leak, but I do get rusty washers in the ceiling where the tracks are even when I use stainless. I swap em out every so often.
