Sometimes someone new to Tacomas or trucks in general and might ask a question that may be common sense to others. Some will think "Geeze maneeze, what a bonehead!" or "What kind of idiot is this?" or even "Hey is this guy trolling?"

Although the trucks come with owner's manuals and this place comes with a search feature, maybe the person is so excited about their new truck or even freaked if something went WRONG...they might ask a question that may seem stupid to those who have more experience.

Well that's why they come here. To learn. And at times people will laugh at that question and tease the person. Others will help and teach them explaining and providing links. And others will be downright mean, berate them and call them names. :(

Please remember that this person may be new to this, and they only want to learn, not be be embarrassed or made fun of. Nobody wants to make a fool of them self.

I can see where if someone comes off as a joker and right off the bat is a troll, yeah, others want to put them in their place. But if someone is really not knowing, it would be nice to be welcomed here and treated nicely with an answer that would help rather than demean them. I've asked a few newb questions myself and although you all have treated me nicely and helped me out, it would be nice if that cordially was spread all over the forum.

There are a ton of you on here that are genuine (actually a majority of you are) but there are a few that get together and jump on someone and keep on and on, bantering back and forth and sometimes that just isn't very nice.

So please, remember that we were all new once - I sure hate to see people get jumped on, made fun of and ultimately get upset because all they wanted to do is learn.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your knowledge with me. I've learned so much about my truck because of you. And I keep coming back for the same reason. :)

    Great post OP.

Honestly though, this site is MUCH more forgiving than some of the other sites I belong to.

The Ram site I was on is brutal if you hadn't searched first extensively. They didn't sugar coat it at all.

Again, great post for all to remember.
