Little this. Little that 4x4 Swap’d PreRunner
good to know. It was an educated guess on my parts, wasn’t 100% sure but the thought of it sliding back with no actuator would is worrisome. Thanks for the info!

Yes, think of it this way. Even though in theory there is power going to it, the motor is not energized, the electrical is only there to allow the fork to change state, not hold it there.

ARB locker is the opposite of this. The solenoid ports air to a diaphragm which allows the locker to engage, if the solenoid loses power, the air is vented, andthe locker disengages.

if you were to remove the actuator and shift fork, the collar that the fork slides could very easily slide over, so folks have used either a hose clamp or tacked it into place.

Ok yall, i have an auto 4wd tranny and an fj case ready to go. I have seen some photos with a 2 or 3 inch spacer on the tcase. What is that for? Also, do you need to do anything with the wires on the tcase if your truck has a 2wd ecu?

Can you share a pic of the spacer you're referring to?

You don't have to do anything with the sensor wires, but most folks wire them into the dash indicator lights.

I think reading up the spacer I was seeing was if you want to mount it on the two wheel drive transmission

You can run the wires to the dash if you are so inclined. But its no function other than lights. I didn’t waste the time because you can look at the stick and know you’re in 4wd or not. I initially was going to but then by the time I did my conversion I was over it. Granted it only took 3 days including fabbing the cross member. Maybe when I do redo all the wiring on my truck I’ll crawl under there and do it.

Due to time and money I plan on doing it all in 2 stages. Basically get my truck running in 2wd but with the new tranny and tcase first, then do all the front end bolt up stuff. Should make it easier to accomplish and give me some time to space it out.

I personally would do it all at once. Especially if I had to do it all over it. Only difference I would do trans and tc first then do the front. The back is easy minus the cross member. I would start a new thread for your swap though. It will get a lot more attention in case an issue comes up. And as always you can pm me and I can try and walk you through it.

I'm curious why. Seems like it would be the exact same amount of work and would allow me to to finish the job at home on my own time easily. I'll have a few extra hands and a lift to use for the first half.

Little this. Little that 4x4 Swap’d PreRunner
What’s everyone doing to seal/boot around the trans tunnel hole for the shifter?
Prerunner-4x4 swap on an automatic. Trying to see if I can find a boot that might be low profile enough
