No, it's still an open diff up front so you won't have any issues

Recall where you got that plain black shift ball for the crawlbox shifter? I am looking for some super basic black knobs like that that are small.

No i don't but i used a universal boot and sealed it with butane cord against the tunnel and then used the AC duct tape on top of that.

I used noico sound deadener and I actually stuffed an old tshirt in the console around an Amazon boot to make it quiet as possible. Dont want to hear it, its perfectly safe and it drastically cuts down on the sound and road noise. I also put noico under the truck in the transmission tunnel

Ive got noico around the shifter now but its not sealed all the way around the hole. I was also thinking of doing the transmission tunnel. I just didn't know him to fit the boot around the hole.

I put the boot down and used the noico as tape to seal it down. Driving with the windows up the noise is undecernable from stock.

I used the boot from the FJ cruiser. It's a double layer boot and seems to seal pretty well without anything additional.

I took an inner tube, cut it up, put a piece on top of the TC under the floor. Then another on top of the floor and shaped some thin aluminum to the floor and secured that with pop rivets. Over that is Gorilla tape. No leaks, no sound. Total cost about $0.05. Looks are a 2 of 10 but it's under the console so what does it really matter as long as it works. My shifter boot is attached to the console.

New to this thread. Any other threads, videos, or links on how to do the fj t-case swap with an automatic tacoma? is that possible? not trying to be naive I just very little mechanical knowledge and am trying to expand. Came across this topic due to constant 4wd engaging problems. Trying to understand how the 2wd/4wd and high/low shifter knobs end up in the centre console of the cab when the transfer case is so car back under the cab. If anyone could sort me out that would be much appreciated!

plenty of people have. Just poke around the thread here. Involves cutting and welding the shifters to come up where you want them to. @HolyHandGrenade did an FJ in the automatic.

I did an FJ swap awhile ago. But I just finish dealing to a 5-speed manual so I had to redo everything.

Yep, here was another one I just saw, doesn't show with the console removed

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/lets-see-your-fj-case-swap.455278/page-15#post-19045296

If you want to run a twin stick, tougher to get in the hot dog holder, but a single stick fits well there. I've even seen people dog leg the shifters to the sides of the center console, hell have your passenger do something while they're riding, one guy in charge of hi/lo gear and one in charge of 2wd/4wd :D

Gotcha ok so essentially you have to pick placement before getting things together. is there any pros/cons to running single stick? dual stick seems simpler for the driver
