make sure the shift boot is not putting any pressure on the stick as well as the hole in the body not interfering. Under load things can shift and cause interference

I don't have a boot on it right now, and the hole in the floor is nowhere near the shifter. I guess I'll see if the stiffer detent spring fixes it, and if not, I'll just pull the case out again!

Ok. Yeah then likely the double spring will help. Also you can pop the shifter off to see if the shift rails are worn where the detent balls hold the rail in place. They should look sort of like a “v” shape. I put the extra spring in when I first did the swap and haven’t seen it happen.

Yeah it only pops out when it's de-accelerating in gear. So I'll throw a heavy duty spring in there and if that doesn't fix i
Nice! I'll do that. Not sure what's going on, today it doesn't fall out of gear anymore but it won't shift into 4wd.
I'll just pull the case again and check it out. If the shift rods are contacting the trans tunnel I'd rather fix it now, rather than find out in a few hundred miles that putting pressure on the shift rods cause catastrophic failures.

That's perfect, thank you! Building a template to help clearance the trans in the 3g. Hopefully it'll take a bit of the guesswork out. upload_2021-1-19_17-53-55.jpg

The question mark is the interior light switch/dimmer or a rheostat

they are already connected to ground through the stock harness, if your truck came as a prerunner you just tie other end of the switch to the chassis somewhere. That “other thing” is the variable ground for the dimmer rheostat

Going back thru my YouTube channel and damn it’s been 7 years since I made this video, but I have since switched out the ADD for a full time front differential tube from the FJ cruiser.
