Lets see your rattle can talent....

I want to rattle can spray my stock 16" trd rims black but not sure how it'll on my silver mica DC, so post 'em for me please so I can have a "cheap mod day" which = BEER day

Damn that looks good.

 

I prefer the blacked out look with the silver lug nuts....rather than painting the lugs as well.......white lettering on the tires look good as well.

 

db67fm and Evilmonkey, what kind of paint did you use exactly? Looks good charcoal instead of the full black.

rustoleum satin black paint...

 

^^is satin the same sheen as flat??

 

no... satin is around the middle point between flat and gloss.. you can see in that pic that there is some shiny to the wheels but not alot.... i think its the best finish as gloss is to bling and flat is kinda blah and hard to clean...

 

^^so then its semi-gloss I guess ?

 

no actually i think it is less than semigloss... you can find rustoleum and krylon in satin black pretty easily.. i think around here they sell it at wally world and lowes...

 

what kind of prep did you do before spaying the final satin black finish ie. primmer etc and thanks for the help

 

all i did was take the wheels off, wash them real good using regular car wash but instead of using a wash mit i used steel wool to scrub them with. that way i was cleaning them and scuffing the surface at the same time. after they dried i stuck index cards around the edge to keep from painting the tire and started spraying primer.... did two coats of primer and then two coats of satin black.... i let them sit overnight after painting before i bolted them back on.

its been acouple months so far and they are holding up perfect.. but i figured i would tear them up offroading so it will be no surprise to me when i have to touch them up.......

 

I used Photoshop brand.

2 coats of Rustoleum Sandable Primer (black), and 2 coats of Rustoleum Professional High Performance Enamel flat black.

The pictures show the wheels very dusty.
