Dunno. The highest performance cars use drilled and slotted rotors. Don't think they would be running them if they were prone to fail.

It happens, check some of the corvette forums.

And high performance cars arent using $150 drilled/slotted rotors.

Slotted/Drilled is mostly bs anyways. It doesnt improve stopping, more a look how cool my rotors are type sh*t.

not supposed to improve braking. its for heat dissipation so your rotors don't heat up and explode on the track

Heat dissipation is an issue, on a 240Hp midsized truck? Nah, its all about looks .

    ^ this

keeping brakes cooler will prevent brake fade, which improves the braking in tough conditions.

Right, but in that case the entire braking system is designed as a whole for it.

Rotors are upsized to include more mass, engineered for improved internal cooling, often with aerodynamic features of the car feeding cold air onto the rotor while running the best alloys possible and going through extensive testing. The system is engineered and designed as a complete system, to meet the needs of the vehicle and quality is going to be exceptional. A “low end” C-class AMG rotor costs $2000 for the pair.

That is very different than taking a basic stock truck rotor not designed for any of that and adding some holes, which reduces mass and braking capacity without rotor upsizing, not making any internal improvements to the rotor to aid cooling and bolting some $100/pair rotors onto a truck designed for rotors with more mass.

my oem's have lasted 77k so far, no warping, and if i have to stop on a dime everything in my rear seat ends up in the front, so i will be going oem. i just have to find the best way to get a good price on them.

So we have a price for aftermarket rotors and pads but do we have a community agreed lowest price source for OEM components for a brake job?
