Yes as long as they program factory keys.
And of course they have enough brain cells to understand that that Key even though it says Lexus it will work on the Tacoma.
Make sure you get the part number listed on the first post. All the card keys look the same, but they do have different part numbers, and this is the only one that will work for us.

Perfect!! Thank you. I’ve got a buddy that is a parts manager at Lexus and gave him the part number (8990453511) so hoping he can grab it for me.

If you have an in at a dealer get your buddy to have them program it for you too. Lexus dealer should be able to do it the same as a Toyota dealer

Also note that some Toyota dealers can order Lexus parts. I ordered mine from the local Toyota dealer, but gave them the part number.

No I programmed it all myself. It's not very hard, but then again I worked for the Toyota dealer for a while a few years back.

I have made one Lexus key for our truck.
Not sure if it is strictly worth it for the money, but I enjoyed doing it. It isn't quite worth it to make 2 of them and put one permanently in my and spouse wallet.
The truck is not either of our daily driver vehicle, so it has a bit less value to me than to others who are DD. I use the key to ensure that I have a spare key on myself or within my group whenever out and a long way from help. Dont want to loose my one key out on a jetski or in the woods. This key lets you very compactly carry a key with a cellphone and few credit cards and cash in a waterproof pouch.

If the truck was my daily driver, I would LEAP for joy at the mod, without doubt.

If anyone is needing one of the Lexus keys let me know. I sold my Taco last week and the dealer said they didn’t want the Lexus credit card key because it would confuse the buyers.

I told them it was a great feature, but they were insistent. so I kept it.

I’ll sell it for $150, shipped anywhere in the US.

I loved it on my Taco and it was very nice to have. It does have the backup key, but you will still need to buy one of those to put in it since this one is cut for my truck.

    Thanks

    SOLD IT. THANKS!

I don’t think anyone has confirmed, but should be easy to do. Check out the first post, pop your key fob open and compare numbers on your circuit board. If they are a match then this should be confirmed.

Is it possible to program a used key, as in a key that has been programmed already? I got one matching the one in the thread and trying to get it done but every lock Smith and toyota dealer is telling me they're not sure

It has been discussed and done in this thread by a few. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...working-in-tacoma.445979/page-8#post-14286828

It is more complicated and requires tokens to do (that can be obtained for a cost), and requires you to reset the security ecu (or something along those lines). This will reset all your existing keys, and you will reprogram your existing keys and your new/used key.

Thanks. Doing the program myself may be a bit over my head but I can probably explain it a little better now.

Sounds good, the method with the new key isn't too bad, and I would feel safe trying the used key next time I tried.

If you tell them "Smart Code Reset" in techstream, they should understand better.
