When using that programmer, the 5th connection option is listed as 2017-+. It did not work on my 2021, but your mileage may vary

Depending on where you're at, a tuner in the KDMAX thread might be able to help... :notsure:

Ye, all KDMax tunes have Techstream on hand, so they can also do the key registration.

I went out on a limb and was able to get someone to program a key for me based off of this very post and thread.

If the CC key was used then you wont be able to program it without a subscription to techstream to reset the key.
If the CC key was brand new (never paired with a car before) then programming yourself with a bootleg techstream should be no problem.

Except that I don’t think it works on the 2021s anyway.

    TRD lift and 33’s.
Can anyone confirm yet that this works on the 2021's? Going to pick up my "new to me" truck next week, and figured I'd just get this done at the dealership while I'm there.

This is what I do… Ekster Slim Wallet… I have two business cards between the CC FOB and the wallet. I carry it in my right front pocket… it carries 5 cards (2 CC’s, Drivers License, Mil ID, Laminated Medicare Card). I have a few bills in a money clip in a back pocket that I rarely use. With the pandemic, I’m almost cashless in my purchases. Hope this helps. C51E25C5-FA4D-4508-A148-A357E117E6B1.jpg

    My experience (on 2017)
I keep my lexus key in the center of a slim wallet.
If the wallet is in my back pocket, it can sometimes have a LITTLE trouble getting signal to unlock the door, and it might take another half second or require you to turn your body slightly to get the door unlocked. Not every time, but maybe 1 in 10, or 1 in 5. Not really an issue, but not utterly seamless.
If the wallet is in my front pocket, I see no significant change from the full size normal key.

(Never any issue with starting the truck, regardless of wallet or location on body.)

Sounds like the jury is still out on the 21s for doing it with subscription techstream. I'm gonna give it a go in a month or so and see how it goes.

Was that the only issue? Techstream? If you manually enter the truck in as a 2020 you can still adjust settings on the older version of techstream.

I'm not sure honestly I'm just speaking from what I've found on this thread. Looks like only 2 other guys have attempted it for a 21 but from what the other posters are saying the did it wrong to some extent. Not sure what the did wrong but I'm willing to give it a shot. Do you know if it works for the 21s? or how I could see if it does before I buy anything?

It’s just a key utility. This whole time I thought it was from them changing the internals of the key components. If you have techstream, see if you enter in the truck manually as a 2020 and see if you can go to the smart key section and see if it will initiate the add smart key function.

Yeah some of the other posts said that the model vehicle you use for techstream doesn't need to be exact since the tacos use generally the same key system from model year to model year but they may have changed it from 20 to 21. I need to open up my fob one of these days and compare the components to one of the older trucks to make sure everything is the same
