Do you know if he had to reset the keys, or just add a key?

Just add a key, I watched him do it, it was an option on the computer. I only brought one factory key with me anyway.

@Victory - since you watched him do the programming...did he just plug in the programmer, select Lexus IS250 (2014 or 2015), and then click the Add Button - then just ran the card over the Push to Start button?

Pretty much, after selecting the vehicle it will take a min to load, then select add a key, and you put the factory key against the push to start and it beeps, then put the card against the push to start and it beeps twice and you are done. We tested both keys after by bringing the opposite key into the shop and that was it.

I'll go back to the first post and check out the link for the Highlander. I'm in luck with the software and hardware requirement side because I run PC and have 64 bit version of Windows 7. I'll keep in mind to utilize the 2015 Lexus IS250. Thanks again for sharing!

Most locksmiths who do vehicles should be able to cut it. I went to 3 places the other day, the first one had a sign saying he could cut it (also supposedly programmed the proximity keys but wouldn't do the Lexus one). The second place only did residential and commercial buildings so wouldn't do it, but the third place told me he could do it. He had the factory one in stock but not for the Lexus Card key. Many dealers also have the ability to cut them, but many send them out so you can also call your dealer and ask if they do it in house and if not where do they send them.

Ok...got the FOB and had it programmed. The program as a '15 IS250 trick worked. My guy tried to program as a '16 Tacoma but didn't work. The same locksmith tried to cut the Lexus emergency key but couldn't do it as it was too thin. Went back to the dealer told them the situation and they cut it at no charge.

I definitely recommend the emergency key. I went out with they credit card FOB and came back to unlock my car...and then all hell broke loose. Lol. Well kinda. The FOB doesn't transmit as far as the standard one, so it seems like it takes an extra second for the doors to unlock once you stick your hand in the handle to unlock. I went to open the door and since it hadn't unlocked when I pulled on the handle, it slipped out of my hand and set off the alarm. Since I didn't have my FOB with the Unlock button the only way to cancel the alarm was to get the emergency key out and unlock the door.

So...get the emergency key. You'll need it.

Good to know. I should have my emergency key tomorrow. I havent had the alarm go off yet on my truck so I haven't messed with it yet. I would have thought putting your hand on the handle would have turned it off.
I haven't noticed any delay on my unlocking with my card. I wonder if you should try replacing the battery, I did see some people with Lexus' complaining of low or dead batteries when the key was brand new, apparently they aren't too popular and can sit on the shelf for a while.

Okay, going to pull the trigger on this but just to be sure.

    I order this, http://www.partznet.com/oe-toyota/8990453511

I find a locksmith that can program smart keys. Have them program the key as a Lexus 2014/15 IS250. Beep, boop, bop, done.

Is that all there is to it?

That is it, grab the emergency key off eBay and have it cut while at the locksmith, it is under $25 on eBay. I posted the link in this thread somewhere.

Pulled the trigger this morning. If you buy from Partznet.com, their universal 10% discount code is now loyalcustomer10. That got me 10% off my total purchase and more than paid for the shipping.

So I'm the paranoid type who hits my lock key like 40 times to hear the beep to confirm the doors are locked. How am I supposed to satisfy my OCD with this?

What 'programmer' are you guys using to add the key? I tried using Techstream, following both 2014-15 IS250, Highlander, or Tacoma 2016 and none would give me the option to program a key.
