So I would think license plate sizes are pretty standard, although I could be wrong. with that said, the rear plate is waaaaay tight as far as height.

I'd like to get a couple license plate frames (front & back), but am worried about the back one considering the height issue.

Does anyone on here make them or recommend ones that fit good? I looked for TRD ones online, but all had mixed reviews. If possible I wouldn't mind even a cover (smoked or clear)...

Let's see what you got! A link would be appreciated too :)!

I had to redrill holes in the proper place to use a standard metal frame.

I bought a clear cover one time. It didn't fit. So now I'm running pretty bare.

I don't use a frame either just because of my preference on the look. I did use galvanized washers for mounting to avoid a rusty ring on the plate.

Please check local regulations. Some frames can be judged by law enforcement to obscure plate info.

Remember, to get pulled over, the LEO only needs to believe the frame is blocking plate info.

I would rather go with no frame. My work hours put me on the roads at low traffic times. I've been pulled over just because my travel times were near bar closing times. I don't need the hassle. I just want to go to bed.

not sure about for where you guys all are but here cars get different plates than trucks.
Not sure if the size is different though.
Just my plates are black writing where others are blue.
and for trucks that stupid sticker you need to buy is on the front not the back.

Never looked at the size. I mean they look the same but never know could be a little smaller or bigger and just can't tell without measuring.

For the covers though...check state laws. I know here in Ontario Canada they're illegal if smoked, and if they 'obstruct' the plate. So in the winter if they are dirty you'll get pulled over. I've been pulled over for them multiple times and been given a written warning. In which I was pulled over again for it and the cop told me if I do not remove them right now he's writing me a ticket. I don't think he expected me to have tools in my car to remove them haha.

I'm too lazy to go get a picture. I don't have one on the truck, but my fun car has a plate frame on the back that says "Have more fun" (top) and "drive a manual" (bottom).

On one of my previous cars, I literally wanted a silicone rubber like cell phone case... something that just grabbed the edge of the frame to keep it from rubbing on paint. Never found anything, so ended up with a length of rubber door sill protectors kinda like this https://www.amazon.com/MATCC-Shape-...6263688&sr=1-1&keywords=rubber+door+protector
but with a bit of sticky glue in the U and just cut it around the plate. Looks pretty stock and clean (no pic, sold the car) and only added about a 1/16 or so to the plate border. About the smallest you can get.
