License plate light Disable while In Reverse (DIR)

This forum has taken so much of my money.

Placed an order today. Can't wait until I can actually use the camera when backing up at night.

 

Sorry man, I feel your pain. Worst are the mods I've bought and are sitting in bins on shelves waiting for time to install.

This specific mod is a fav of mine because it's so quick to do the install.

With that said, I literally have both a set of vled tails and a new set of OEM 2G taillights to install, max 10 minutes, I haven't made time for either yet. Ridiculous indeed. Hoping you have a bit more freedom to strike while the iron is hot.

I got one out super early but I bet yours is one of the ones since I shipped. Gonna try to make the USPS cutoff but it might not go out till Monday.

 

Sounds good. I'm getting windows tinted later this week, so I'll be relying more on the backup cam, at night, and glad I found these.

 

OK, I have one of these which is just ever so barely a refurb, Someone installed it and pulled a wire out, I swapped them out and then repaired their original, new relay and one new connector, re-tested on the bench and packaged up just like a new one. It'd be hard for someone to know it was a refurb, no dirt, functionally and aesthetically a perfect match to new, but I figure it's an opportunity for fun.

I'm going to offer it up for $20 shipped if anyone is interested as I know some dudes like this mod but don't love the price. However, to make it fun and semi fair, how about anyone posting after me but before the official 2024 Tacoma reveal (tonight), who makes a prediction which we don't already know based on prior Taco Tuesday news and ends up being correct.

I'll go through any posts looking for correct predictions and toss them in a weighted lottery based on the level of chutzpah demonstrated by the prediction on a 1-5 scale. So, like 1 point for purchase price of SR 2wd at 29k or rear disk brakes, maybe 2 points for OffRoad MT available with the hybrid powertrain, 3 points for payload over 1800 lbs, 4 points for MT w longbed or 2wd and a full 5 for RC or 8' bed or 35" tires.

The triangular rack thingies on the trailhunter trim will go great with a mullet and will make any Chevy Avalanche driver feel right at home.

Anyone who added the optional DD HP3 plate light bulbs, do you have specific feedback? Like? Dislike? Ambivalent? I'm about out of my last order of the bulbs so I'm trying to decide if I should keep offering them or go back to harness-only without the bulb option.

Those who didn't get them, any specific reasons? Happy with halogen plate bulbs? Don't care cause you don't see? Or already bought LED plate bulbs, hence the interest in this DIR?

 

I ran the DD HP3 and HP5 on one of my frontiers. No feeling towards those either way - they work fine. I’ve had problems with other DD products but not those. On the Tacoma I bought plate bulbs from VLEDS long before I ever bought the DIR, so it wasn’t a consideration at purchase time for me.

 

Bumping this cause I have good stock right now, one of the rare items where I won't have to build for a while so they are shipping same day.

 

Received my kit this afternoon. Plan to install tomorrow.

I can see this, the quality of this mini harness is superb. It is OEM quality or better. I’m pretty stoked to get this installed. I tried the light blocking plates and really didn’t like the look.

**Super easy install. Tail light removal is the hardest part of the task.

I’m gonna vouch for this mod big time! So far, it’s easily one of my favorites.

 

Only 9 months later but finally installed it.

Recently bought a pair of VLED V6 Triton 921 switchbacks to replace my original MESO TTS1 switchbacks and swapped back to incandescent 7443s.

Literally less than a 10 minute job and works great!

 

Reading comprehension isn't my strong suit, and theres a ton to read here.

If I buy the aux version, wrap it up and zip tie it out of site will this mod still work? Dunno if I'll ever need the aux, but I'd rather have it and not need it, instead of need it and have to reorder the more expensive version later.

 

Will work fine. The aux is just a hookup for a light. Whether or not you use it has no bearing on the harness doing what it’s supposed to do.
