Actually you better check your local laws very closely. Where I reside one can only legally carry a folding blade that is equal/less than 2.5".

They didn't take your pocket knife, you let them have it.

Also this "rules are rules" mentality is bullshit.

Good reason to not live on campus. I don't, owning guns and knives is worth the higher rent.
Campuses need to allow guns and knives on campus. Then crazy people will think twice about hurting naive freshman.

Frankly the stupid paper you get after 4 years is worth the grief. keep your eye on the prize. Jeopardizing the degree over principles is just not worth it.

Yeah, it's amazing too how housing and University PD's hate each other at most schools, because of stupid shit like this. My PD has confiscated airsoft guns, water guns, bongs, empty beer cans...but a knife? That's a new one. The PD was not involved I'm assuming because that's total BS and strictly a housing thing, not a University/Local/State rule or law.

Like others have said, if you can live off campus, do it.

you know why the UK has so many stabbings?

    because they outlawed handguns

those anti-stab knives will do absolutely NOTHING to stop a slash or cut though

That reminds me of my story when back when the one asian guy shot up Virginia Tech.
I used to love guns and I drew them all the time.
Then when that happened, I got called up because I was very fond of guns and I guess being asian sorta played in it.

long story short, I had to see the counselor for the rest of the year.
    SUCKED.

Were you drawing the gun in public at people? If not, I don't see why you had to see a school counselor

Oh, I thought you meant you literally had a gun and "drawing it" or pointing it at people...I was like wtf. It shows that campuses are hyper-sensitive.

That sucks! A few weeks ago The U of A passed a law that allows firearms on campus, they must be in a parked vehicle. When I lived on campus, I had a kitchen knife in my room, it was used for cutting meat (I cooked in the kitchen). I know state laws, as well as campus laws are different. Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully you can get back your knife and get things all sort out.

Well, you have to understand that when you live on campus, you must abide by local, UPD, AND housing rules/laws. The University PD usually follows the same laws as local and state law enforcement, but housing has MUCH stricter "rules"... stupid stuff, like walking around while intoxicated can result in you being admitted to a detox facility.
