Speaking of which, why can't I see any of your photos (in any of your posts), just some Photobucket box looking thingies?

    Stock for now...
Just an fyi about using yellow colors for fog lamps (sub-4500k) . Due to white snow/fog conditions it does help to use yellow light to illuminate the road and help reduce reflection of white light against snow/fog . On the old Cruiser the IPF fog lamps make a really big difference in visibility during heavy fog and snowstorms , it actually helps to shut the headlights off in some instances . Now , keep in mind , that is during a blizzard here in the Plains and not one other soul was out that night including the snow plows ....lol .

Also , someone asked about buildup of snow/ice on the lens due to using a different lamp from halogen which produces a lot of heat . I've had no issues with the led's on the FJ40 and due to the design of the grill/bib on that truck they are known for building up ice and snow to the point of blocking off the headlights . If nothing else , since the housings run cooler it doesn't cause melting of snow/ice and making it freeze/build up against the lens .

To get a true yellow fog , the light color temp would have to be in the sub 4000k range , preferably down to 3500k or so .

BTW , is there an application for the stock factory fogs on my '08 Taco TRD ?

Got mine the other night. Took about 45 minutes to install.

    First impressions are.....not good :poking:

The beam pattern is great, but it doesn't "throw" very far.

All the good light is right in front of the truck. I tried to adjust them, but the adjusters don't seem to do anything now (they did with the stock bulbs???).

Turning the high beams on does almost nothing.

I'll try to mess with it more when I get time, but if there isn't a big improvement with adjustments, I won't be keeping these.

Thx for posting. I was wondering how good these would be out further. Hoping you figure something out, would like to get some of these but not doing it if all of the light is in front of the truck.

My low beams are awesome, good light throw, for most part further than my halogens. The only issue is that with my '03 4runner reflector assemblies there seems to be no definitive cutoff. That said, nobody's flashed me yet so it can't be that bad.

    Precisely my thoughts as well.
The lights are well built, much brighter / crisper light than OEM bulbs, but I don't really care to illuminate what's 20 ft in front of me. At any speed, anything 20ft in front of you is already irrelevant.

At any distance that matters, the useful beam seems to actually do a worse job of illuminating the road ahead. The lights do get a good bit brighter when you switch on the brights, but I don't know where that brightness is going. It's not hitting the road.

I live out in the sticks, no streetlights and plenty of deer. I need to be able to see what's ahead.

    That's weird....

I wish I knew what to tell you cause mine have none of those issues. In fact at times I think they might be too bright. The only thing I can think of is they are installed incorrectly or your headlights need to be adjusted?

Low beams (as you can tell is much more than 20 ft)

    Stock for now...
It has to be down to the design of the reflector , the IPF housings in the FJ40 caused a very bright area just ahead of the vehicle at about the same distance as described above but usable light far out is just as good . Possible solution may be a different set of housings , otherwise not much could be done about it .

I'll clarify that I'm not blaming the lights here. I think they are a quality product and a great value for the price. As I said earlier, they are a good bit brighter than what they replaced. I just can't get MY truck to produce what I would consider a useful beam pattern. I'm well in the minority here, so I have no reason the believe the lights themselves are the problem.

How could I possibly screw up an H4 bulb install? If it's a botched install, someone just take my truck away....I don't deserve it!

I'll play around with them more when time permits.

Oh, I'm not saying you did anything wrong just maybe some upward adjustment might help or something similar. I was lucky and mine were just drop in and play with no adjustment needed. I hope they work out for you because I really love them and I have to deal with deer every day going to / from work.

Mine look absolutely nothing like that. At one point I actually asked myself, "are these fucking things even on??".

I'll mess with the adjustments a little more tonight.
