Even then, the exposure can be set to make the lights look brighter than the sun.

True.... but, that is exactly what they look like on high beam. My driver has a 2010 tacoma and I'll try to get some pictures of the difference between the lights tomorrow night.

So i got the driver side installed and working. i put the rubber boot on first, then the 3 pronged keeper then got then spring to catch. seems like the light is only being held on by the rubber boot. that cant be right? can it?????

How are you liking them so far? I'd like a set for our horribly lit Colorado roadways!

Goose: I will tell you that the light output is not nearly as good as the stock bulb, I realize some will disagree here - they are BRIGHT appearing, but they do not broadcast light NEARLY as well in my opinion, I am considering removing mine and just using a good halogen bulb, or paying for the full retrofit option and going HID - I was warned that LED aftermarket lights just aren't there yet in terms of light output, but I ignored that warning lol

I will say that I like the color of the light better, but for sure it is not nearly as good at transmitting light as the stock set.

I used double sided tape to hold the drivers(power supplies) to the side of the headlight housing. This location pretty much hides them and still allows plenty of wire length to plug them in.

Ok. I plan to reinstall one of my halogens and do a side by side comparison this weekend. I don't have too many dark roads around here in Virginia Beach unless I go for a long drive, but I should be able to shine my lights on a wall at several different distances to show the differences.

I realize this picture is taken at a certain distance but the drivers side bulb is a zXe which is a extremely white bulb. The zXe is no comparison to the LED as noted in this picture. (Low beam as noted by fog light).

That said, it has been hashed over and over in this thread about different outcomes with these lights. I've had perfect luck (so far) with them and couldn't be happier. Others have not. The +12 housings "seem" to fare slightly better than the older models is the best that I can tell.

To me... They are one step below a true HID Retrofit. To others, they don't compare.

I always use this picture to drive that point home. This is exactly what they look like on high beam in my truck. I think anyone looking at this picture would agree that is much better than stock.
Others will comment on camera exposures and that is a valid point. But if you were sitting in my truck this is what you would see.

That said... a few others don't have this luck so purchase at your own discretion.

I've been lurking on this thread since the beginning. I'm just TRYING to give it a little longer till I purchase a set of these... The longevity is the most important part to me.

High beam performance for most people has little value. I can't remember the last time I used my high beams. I think the true review of these lights should be based on low beam performance.

That seems to be the most complained about feature about these lights reading back through all the pages. High beams are very important to me since I have to drive 24 miles of back roads to work every third day.

    Low beam

    High beam same spot

But not equally by a far margin. design a light for optimal low beam performance. High beam performance is a byproduct.

I am just pointing out to prospective buyers that to be more concerned with the low beam performance of these LED bulbs versus the OEM halogen bulbs.

Personally I would recommend a retrofit as I believe these LED lights really need to have a projector or reflector designed specifically for their use to see the most benefit.

I don't believe these are designed for projector use. I think that they have been designed for the housings that they are installed in from the factory as I have no issue with bleed over and they put out "almost" a factory pattern.

That said, nothing will beat a well done retrofit but these comes pretty close with very little work.
