Here's what I did, in pursuit of a 3" lift:

Bought the Old Man Emu kit that YotaDan sells via wheelersoffroad.com and specify in the order that you want 887 front coils with your kit AND pay extra to have the front coils assembled by the knowledgeable team at Wheelers Offroad prior to shipping them out to you. This is an extra $156 dollars and will save you from having to either buy a spring compressor that you will use exactly one time or taking them to be assembled by a half-wit part-timer at Pep Boys who will probably mess up your kit.

The reason for the 887 coils is that it is a longer spring than the 885 coils, but are not stiffer. The 886 coils are the same length as the 885 coils but are much more rigid so you're going to feel every bump in the road right in your teeth if you get the 886 springs and don't put some extra weight on your truck to smooth them out.

This is the kit I'm talking about BECAUSE YOU'RE GOING FOR 3" of lift, you are probably going to want to get a new set of upper control arms. I bought the Total Chaos ones from Wheelers, they were not the cheapest ones(Camburg), and they were not the most expensive ones(Icon). I read good things about Total Chaos and so I chose those.

There are people who say you don't need new upper control arms with that amount of lift, but it doesn't hurt anything but your wallet to take the extra precaution against fucking up a set of tires due to alignment issues (which will cost you the same or more than just getting the set of UCA's in the first place).

I installed the kit with the help of 1 other person myself. This was my first Taco lift kit install. It worked great, I was meticulous about the instructions and torque specs ... and when it was all done I put some 285/75/16 hankook tires on some Vision Manx wheels and got them aligned and only rubbed a little bit at half lock until I took the front factory flaps off the front.
