Does the Tacoma have any problems turning 35" tires I'm wanting to lift mine but I can't deside weather to go with a 4" and 33" tires or a 6" with 35" tires can some one help

Most guys will say to stick around 3" lift

    BUT

You could use a drop bracket lift and get the 6"

You going to offroad this puppy?

Also you'll pretty much be required to do a cab mount chop with either tire size, and definitely dirty 5's. If you go the 6" route, you have to have part of the frame cut out and the lift welded in, so a cmc is no biggie.

If you want 33" or larger tires save money for a re-gear.

If you want to bro your truck, do the 4-6" drop bracket lift (permanent frame alteration).

If you want to improve your truck, better handling, off-road capability, etc.... upgrade the suspension and net yourself a 2.5-3" lift the right way.

I disagree that you need a regear for 33s. It may be nice, but not a necessity. 35s definitely though.

:notsure: My truck lost the tiny balls it had when I went to 33" tires. Re-gear made a huge difference.

Haha! I would agree that re-gearing makes a huge difference, but as long as OP isn't trying to race anyone, stock gears are fine. That's just my opinion though, and it's worth what you paid for it.

    Free!! lol

Biggest concern as I've been told is transmission strain. Re-gearing returns things to closer to designed gear ratios, etc. Less strain on the power train.

I run Mastercraft Courser MXT 33" and 3.73 gears are fine, I lost power in 6th going up hills is what I notice the most.

    Workin' on it....
I thought my truck lost those when I put 265's on and some armor. :anonymous: Seriously though, driving through western Montana from Butte to Coeur d'Alene ID, my truck struggled to maintain any sort of speed up some of those I-90 climbs with C-rated 31.5's.

    :pout:

You must have a V6 Manual Transmission? If so I believe the V6 MT has a 4.10 gear ratio but I could be wrong.

Exactly. The Homestake Pass near Butte killed my truck even when stock. It was jumping between 4th and 5th the entire time. I had to manually put it into 4th to keep it from hunting. Add bigger diameter, heavier tires, and it was a bear to get up a hill. Even slight inclines in I-90 outside Bozeman (and the Interstate is basically flat here) I'd see it downshift into 4th.

It's happened once before... so a second time is likely due...
