light bar install help?!?! Burning smell lights obviously not working.

https://www.amazon.com/Wiring-Harness-Nirider-Driving-Offroad/dp/B07R6CT6WD saw that during install lights working off battery. When I went to start truck for final test (not sure if I had light bar on or not) truck started up then died. Started up again stays running and I smell electrical burning smell and I kill truck. Couldn’t find any obvious signs of melting wires anywhere. Where did I go wrong? Was it user error? Wrong light? Harness? Is my truck screwed? Any help much appreciated

 

Can you tell us where you hooked the wires for Power and Geound?
Did you go from the battery? Or did you tap into a wire inside the cab?

 

I hooked into the battery and had wires tucked along behind battery.

 

Am I reading this all right...? Light is 378 W light and harness is 14 AWG. 378W/12V = 32 Amps. Is the power wire getting hot? Need more details on how you wired light bar up.

 

Good catch, the harness OP linked to is 40A relay.
But the fuse is 30A which does lead you to believe the wiring isn’t rated for 32A.

 

Just like the harness is designed. Wires from bar lines into battery both negative positive. Ran wire through rubber cone into switch on dash. I just noticed I didn’t screw lead into anything. Bad?

 

Ok so wrong harness I’m an idiot. So what harness should I get?

 

I’m not saying it’s the harness 100%.
But the kit you linked to is straight forward.
You can not plug up any thing wrong, as the connectors 1 way specific.
I’m kind of surprised you didn’t blow the fuse?

I still can figure out why the truck died.
Did you disconnect the battery when doing the install?
If so, it’s normal for the truck to start and die.
I don’t know why, but most of them do this every time you disconnect the battery.

 

When starting up it was fine and as soon as I let go of key it just died. I didn’t disconnect battery. I did disconnect from battery after burning smell. What would be the perfect harness? I did disconnect wires to put through rubber abd reconnected. If not together properly or wired back wrong would that do it? I’m going to remove harness abd check iy

 

light should be completely independent of ignition with the harness you have. Can you turn the light on when ignition is off? Disconnect positive lead of harness from battery and see how your truck starts up. Not sure what perfect harness would be, but that one just doesn't seem rated appropriately. 30 amps also seems a bit high for a 32" bar.

 

So truck started back up fine abd everything normal but haven’t driven it. The light did not work after this happened from battery alone which it had earlier. I think I did have light bar on when starting it would that be too much of a drain on weak battery? There was a significant burning smell which was worrying

 

I don’t think the battery is the issue. Check the fuse for the lights.
Don’t replace the fuse if it’s blown.

 

How did you install positive to battery? Picture would help.

 

I think it is the harness paired with that light bar if 32 amps is correct.

 

Hey everyone thanks fir help but I solved the problem. Turns out when rewired switch connections it did it backwards. So color wires weren’t matching. Sorry to bother you all thanks
