im thinkin i wanna do it too i installed some right in the middle of my factory grill then put a billit grill so now instead of a light bar in the bumper seems like it would work i guess you just have to be sure thats where you want them cause there will be 2 holes in your bumper

All the light bars that are out there seem to attach to the ends of the frame where the factory metal "bumper" bolts on. If you were to remove the plastic bumper would it be possible to build a lightbar to fit under the plastic bumper? Then you could drill holes through the plastic and into the hidden lightbar? I have not had my plastic bumper off yet but someone here knows what's back there.

When I feel around underneath the top of my '09's bumper (cover), there seems to be a pretty solid structure. Just by pushing down on the top of the bumper, you can feel it meets resistance of some sort. I'm not a fan of either the Satoshi grill or the light bar mounts, but I do want more driving lights, so I'm going to try mounting them here.

There is a metal plate running across the valence(plastic bumper cover) but with the grille there is not enough room to drill into the plate to be stable to hold lights steady, unless you don't mind shacking lights and it hitting your grille. Already tried.... unless you take more time and build something underneath the bumper.

I like this, I have been toying with this idea with some KC 516s. Any thoughts on your idea that you would do different? What kind of lights did you go with and does it give enough light?

I just drilled the grill and then added huge washers on the back and this is what I got. They will shake a little but even when running service roads they have never broken or flopped loose... Just another idea.

My lights are Hella 550 and I'm NOT happy with the output! I'm looking for some thing else now.

Prolly almost 2" wide. It was a tight fit but so far so good.
