Have any of the TW members formed local meet-ups? I know the local Mustang group does picnics and country drives roughly every few months and I thought, wow, TW should really do the same!

Picture this (version one): Meet up for breakfast at a little greasy-spoon joint in town, all the BAD A$$ Tacomas lined up outside for all to admire, then a scenic drive through the Texas Hill Country or to the Shiner Brewery. Give us a weekend, and we could all cruise down to the coast for a long weekend on the beach...

OR (version two): We actually start forming inter-state groups and go out camping/offroading together in whatever area tickles our fancy. We may need to filter into two groups at this point since I know there are some REAL 4x4s here (Rubicon, Moab, Death Valley, Black Hills SD, etc.) and the rest of us (camp sites, 4x2s, factory stock etc.). When we were in The Hummer Club, we had Hummers that didn't mind taking on the meanest and the ugliest of trails, and then we had the owners who may leave their Hummers at the camp site and ride with one of us smashed-in crazies. If we have some open Tacoma seats, perhaps that would help the city-slickers to enjoy a little dirt in their face?

What do you folks think? Begin forming local scenic cruises? Group camping and off-roading? Can't be done? Should be done? Has been done?

I wanted to meet local TWers and get to know where the good trails were so I PM'd every local with a 4x4 or Prerunner to find out if they were interested in hitting the trails. Turns out a lot in this area are Mall Crawlers. Out of over 60 locals with 4x4s or Prerunners only 26 want to hit the trails. Then I organized the first local TW trail run in our area. We have even gotten some out of staters to join us.

Mall crawlers, lol, I like it!

In the Hummer Club, we would ROLL our eyes at any Hummer owner who swore off off-roading. It's what the damn thing is made for, no mods required. (I'm talking the HUMMER, not H2, H3, H8 etc). But I'm on the fence with the Tacoma, at least our new one. I'm a penny-pincher for sure, and I can't accept throwing $19,000 down a rocky trail, or risk trashing our daily driver, but I may loosen up after a few years and it's paid off.

On the topic of off-roading though, how many folks do serious off-roading with a standard? I'm talking Rubicon-quality off-roading, not mudding or 40mph down a dirt road.

Lame editing, but this is the place

If by a standard you mean a stock Taco I don't think many do without regrets. But with a lift, some trial armor and larger tires lots do. I'm still in the process of getting all the stuff I want. Got my lift but still need skids, sliders and tires. Link to my build is above my signature pic. This I did with just a 3" lift.
