i have the same problem . try jacking the rear of the vic up and have some one push the button and you turn the rear tires . don't start the truck and leave it in out of gear just turn on the key thats enough to get the locker to switch . if the locker locks then both tires will turn the same way . also you should be able to hear the locker motor turn . trust me its not quit you'll hear it if its working . if not one one way the other the other way . but even if it does lock the light may not go stady , mine doesn't but it locks ever time .
mine had goten stuck over time and needed a liltttle help locking the 1st time . so a hammer and a friend to pock the button got it done . locks fine now even in two wheel

Took my actuator off tonight and disassembled it the gears seemed to be fine but the motor had black stuff around it and all over the brushes so I cleaned them up with some fine sand paper and put it back together and reinstalled it. Now it works great.

I have this same problem. I'll pull the actuator and see if its in need of a cleaning.

Rebuilt my locker actuator and now it works like a charm!

i have the same problem sometimes. what i do is come to a complete stop, engage my 4low (while in neutral), then pull forward slightly in 1st gear and then come to a complete stop again after engaged in 4low. then engage the rear locker (while in neutral) and then proceed forward in 1st gear slowly; until i hear the locker fully engage. then the locker light goes solid. takes a little time to click in, before fully engaged and for the light to go solid and stop blinking.

i am not sure if it matters to be in neutral with clutch fully engaged (for you manual dudes) or simply be in 1st gear, with clutch fully engaged. either way, i just use neutral, to begin the process.

Any chance of getting some pics and details on the cleaning of the actuator?
