    That one piston and jug probably weighs more than my entire 4 cylinder engine.

    Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
    That is a head and liner minus the piston. The head bolts failed. The round part is the liner. The squareish part is the head.
    Cylinder overpressure and failed head bolts. Notice there is nothing inside the liner. No con rod and no piston.
    Some, like me, also called it a power pack. It would have had a piston and con rod with it too. I worked on tug boat engines and have replaced many of them. Never seen that happen though. Must have been a design flaw.

    Liner about 80lbs. Piston and con rod about 60 lbs. Head about 150lbs.

    Crap. I just noticed the piston is still in the ceiling.
    I still stand by my design flaw theory. I saw the results of a 567 EMD throw a rod. Smashed the liner and piston to bits. Head stayed put. Engine kept running. It swamped the crankcase with cooling water from the broken passages in the liner. Wiped out all the bearings.
    FYI a 567 has 567cubic inches per cylinder.
