    Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
    2 issues.

    1) not enough height, if it was a bit higher of a rack that would be an option.
    2) I want to be able to reach in through the bed rack to grab stuff and mounts there would prohibit such.

    I thought it was going to include the regular one too... as in the description and the picture... nope. Just the plate it mates to that I could have made myself with metal I already had in the garage.

    Careful with the bed mount, mine wouldn't ever stay in the bed rail, it would bounce out when tanks had gas in them. Also my mount on my gate broke off and the gas tank flew off on the freeway.

    Just a thought...You potentially can mount them on the underside of your rack below the RTT to keep them out of the bed. I'm just spitballin here. I am working on mounting my Maxtrax in that spot.

    Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
    These are all good ideas/points but I needed something with a small foot print.

    I will be mounting it to the forward rail in the bed and using a couple of rubber feet behind the plate to help keep the weight from bouncing it off the rail. I also went with the deluxe mount so I can keep a lot of tension on the can.

    My goal is to never use this can but with a 5000+ mile trip and a lot of offroad miles too I want to have it there if needed.

    I won't be leaving the can on 24/7. And it will be surrounded by pelican cases.

    I think I made a good choice here and once I get the mount in I will start working it.

    7"x14" exterior measurement. Make the sides as tall as you like. Mine is 11 1/2" tall from the base but you can make it full height or whatever you want.

    I used 1/8" thick 1 1/2" angle available at Lowes.

    Sweet that's the exact material I got from the hardware store. Hopefully I'll have some built this afternoon. Thanks! Also these dimensions should fit the plastic water cans as well as the metal "jerry can" correct?

    Yes, I used the metal one to build from and they have the little lip on the bottom so need more space.

    If you can get your hands on a metal one it makes it really easy since you can build it right off the can to ensure fitment.
