I took some medium sand paper to my bowls and made sure to get every little edge scratched up real well. Then painted them semi-flat black. Worked nicely. Get out your sand paper and turn up the music.....

I'm so frustrated right now I'm just going to get all this paint off and call it a night. I've seen the ones with painted shrouds and chrome bowls and it looks good too. I might mock it up like that tomorrow and see what I think... but

What type of black paint did you use? I had the same thing happen to me. I used plastic primer and then metal paint  After I cleaned up my mess I used Krylon Fusion only, it's good stuff.

It wasn't so much a patience thing more so as once I got all the paint stripped it had some serious rub marks from removing the paint that actually adhered. One of the reasons I was gonna stop for the day was that I was going to mock it up with chrome bowls but that really wasn't an option anymore so I said fuck it and grabbed some stuff while out grabbing dog food.

Setting the cutoffs....I like the fact that they are really really white...4500k with a 50 watt ballast. I wish they had a 5000k that would have been perfect.
