Phil, have you done any trimming on the lower fender flare? Or rather, do you have any rubbing while flexing the suspension with the 255's? I am debating whether or not to get some BORA 1'' wheel spacers when I get my 255's to make the stance just a little wider, but I don't want to sacrifice the function of clearance for looks.

That'll make it worse. I barely rub that spot with my 255's.

I know that, that's why I'm asking the extent of his rubbing to see if I could get away with the wheel spacers if rubbing is non existent without them.

That's why I said the bolded above.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
Depending on your UCA you may or may not rub at all. With stock UCAs I didn't rub with the uniball ones I rubbed just a little bit on the bottom part of the fender. It was only when turned a little and at some speed. If I turned sharper I wouldn't touch...I left it like that for months and just trimmed it on Sunday.

The nice part about the 255s is they stuff sooooo nicely when flexing unlike the wider tires. Adding the spacers will only limit how much you flex and exacerbate the fender rub and you may need to do a cab mount chop. I have no regrets about the 255s with no spacers. I hsve more ground clearance, no frame modifications and less loss of mpgs thsn those who went 285s.

Here's a pic of the small amount of plastic I removed.

Also you have less backspacing on your wheels than Chris and I. You will hsve a greater chance if rubbing right out the gate. Maybe try the tires then add the spacers later if you must.

    I love your wheels btw.

Thanks! That is what I was planning to do...see how close I was with rubbing then get the spacers if I could swing it. Do the TRD OR wheels have 5.5'' of backspacing? That would mean I would essentially have the same stance with just my wheels if you had 1'' wheel spacers I believe.

I am not sure on the exact number but those wheels have less spacing. Either 3/4" or 1" basically you will be wider than Chris and I even without the wheel spacers.

Although I think that the camper is a better day to day setup...I dunno. I like the idea of an rtt after seeing one on pauls and enders. Just not sure how I want to do it. I am gonna stew for a while on it I'm sure.

What model is it again? I'm kind of tapped out right now with the bumper but if a random bonus comes my way or a bunch of OT I might hit you up for it.

Decided to keep the camper shell and not dick with an RTT till I get back from a deployment...started thinking about how much I like having the shell to just toss shit in and lock up everyday. That and the dogs love it back there with the windows open.
