Well this weekend is gonna be busy for me and the Taco. I am going to do the following this Saturday:

    Oil/oil filter change
    Drain and fill radiator
    Replace Crankshaft Position Sensor
    Replace all accessory belts
    Quarterly wax
And some small odds and ends in the interior

I have been having some intermitiate (sp?) starting issues. I already replaced the spark plugs, wires and coils with no resolution:mad:. Getting fuel just something not telling the coils to fire every once and a while. Hopefully the CPS will resolve this. I was reading about the replacement of the CPS. It states I have to remove the alternator and bracket. Anyone have any other pointers before I tear into it? The other stuff on the list is just regular mx that needs to be done.

    Thanks,
    Steve

You know I never thought of that. I have never had any issues out of the battery. When she didn't want to start, the engine cranked really strong, just wasn't getting any fire. But if you waited for a little while the spark came back, almost as if you had to wait for it to cool off a bit.

Good call on the chiltons. I'll stop by the parts store and pick one up tomorrow.

Haven't seen Chiltons in years. Haynes makes a pretty good book on the 1st gens though. Advance Auto and Autozone have them.

There's a lot of things the ECU looks at before it'll fire the plugs. Chris4X4 would be able to list them I'd bet.

I feel for ya...been there done that, with an 02 Ranger. It sux to dump a lot of money into something and still not get it fixed. If it weren't for my cheapness and strong desire to punish myself I'd just take the damn thing to the stealership.
