Hey all, I've been watching TW for years off and on, but only recently had the need to start posting. Long story short, I've had the same 2007 Tacoma TRD Sport DCLB since late 2006 when I got back to the States after an assignment in Japan, and apparently it took a global pandemic to get me motivated to start modifying it.

I really hadn't done much with it over the years, outside of the manufacturer's maintenance, and a new stereo and speakers, until about October of this year. I began primarily looking at new lighting options, since I'd spent too much money restoring yellow headlights.

I ended up landing on the Cali Raised site, and the more I did for lighting, the more I realized I wanted to do for other capabilities. I'm not looking to create a Baja truck, but as I look to another move with the Air Force from Florida to Pennsylvania, I thought it was a perfect time to augment the off-road capability somewhat. It's a good thing I paid this bad boy off years ago, because this TW live isn't cheap!

If anyone has any recommended sticky threads in the 2nd-gen forum, or in general about how to transition a daily driver into a weekend off-road warrior, those would definitely be appreciated!

I'm super excited to become more active here, and looking forward to getting as many miles out of this truck as I can. Hope everyone is safe and healthy these holidays.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Lila, thanks! I guess one big question I did have, being a relative newb at any in-depth maintenance, is how to determine how much frame rust I might already have? I'm fairly certain I did the leaf spring recall years back, but other than garage wizards with tons of tools, are there any threads on how to assess if there's any undercarriage rust issues before I head up ... or how to DIY the corrosion protection? Thanks.
