Does 4x4 really matter that much when talking about long travel? Can 4x4 trucks perform the same? And will it matter in the long run? I really want to ask the question with spindles and if they are going be a problem because I heard that you can’t run fabricates spindles with 4x4. Just wanted to know before I pass the point of no return with my Tacoma haha
    Thanks!

4x4 just makes things more expensive - you can't run fabricated lift spindles but there are 4x4 kits with fabricated spindles.

All depends on what you want the truck to do. If you're in low traction situations often 4x4 is a game changer. If you’re on flat terrain and mostly using momentum to compensate it becomes redundant.

Solomotorsports has one of the leading 4x4 kits for 1st and 2nd gens. They’re boasting something like 18” of 4w4 wheel travel using their custom axles.

I've purchased and am awaiting install on on a Solo Motorsports XLT kit on my 3rd gen OR 4X4. As @Clay_916 mentioned, the kit came with their fabricated lift spindles and custom axles. If you have IG check out my build. @thatblackyota

I saw the shocks on my suggested stuff to look at and was ready for some sweet truck porn, but all I had to look at was the wheels - the glass hadn't been added. Got left on deck holding my bat in my hand! Lol

It's all in good - I was joking before - typing doesn't always do justice to my charming sense of humor lol. I look forward to seeing it come together - always like builds from smaller but high quality builders to learn from :D

2nd gen and 3rd gen are the same as far as their kit goes. The only differences are tie rod ends and cam bolt sizes afaik.

Where are the bump stops gonna contact? I saw you had some but was that just for the rear?

Unless you have an engine cage and bump off the uca they'll bump off the LCA on a strike pad built in. Are you looking at the xlt or 3.5 over kit?

They didn't weld it on in the parts display pic - the customer may have been bumping off the uca so they didn't add one. You'll bump behind the hub since you're steering is in the front - my first gen is in the rear so the strike pad is in the front. Here's a 2nd gen pic

Wow thank you for that pic! That is very helpful! I was looking at this pic but I guess it’s obviously not finished here haha! It’s not even painted or anything just bare still.

Yeah they may have made that one for a guy with an engine cage and just not added bump pads on the LCAs or hadn't added them yet like you said.

The bump pads are on top of the uca you may still need to reinforce them if your hammering on the truck.
