Was someone on here looking for stock lca's a little while ago? I got a spare set I'll sell on the cheap that's ready to go and then I'll have the ones that come off my truck when I get my LT installed.

I know some guys up in Northern VA that would likely take them if you are willing to ship.

Sure I'll ship them so ask around. Tell them $100 plus shipping. I imagine shipping will be another 30-50. If they are still actually interested then I'll find a box and get a more accurate quote.

At ride height for high speed stuff you should be 60% uptravel and 40% downtravel is my understanding of things

Are you building shock mounts or bolting in coilovers?

Shit that's easy then. Run a poly bump and set your ride height. Done

Zero preload does not mean zero up travel. It simply means that you are not adding any load to the coils under their full extended length. Based on your spring rate and coil length You may very well have several inches of of travel left on a non preloaded coil.

For a bolt on LT kit and its corresponding shocks you are really only adding preload to determine ride height which should be in a place to achieve the amount of clearance you need for tires or general GC without going too high that you are prematurely wearing things like CV boots or other wearable components. Also if you add too much you risk coil bind before the shock has fully compressed which will lead to a snapped coil but again on these off the shelf kits and shocks it should be as simple as just setting the desired ride height and going from there and possibly making a rate change if your truck is exceptionally heavy.

The less preload on the coils the better the ride. I'm pretty sure more down travel is desired rather than up. Look at how low the stance is on Trophy trucks or class 1s they are squated at ride height but have loads of travel the majority of which is droop. If your happy with ride height at 0 preload mob it.

It's the opposite actually. Bump travel is what's going to make the ride not suck. Most tt's and such sit nearly in the middle of their travel range. They look like they squat because of 39's (or big tires in general), propperly fitted fiberglass.

how much travel you have isn't the most important factor though, it's all about the shocks!

We've been over this already. It's not about how well it works it's about how many tubes you have. More tubes=more bitchez. It's simple math guys come on meow

Hmm I've always understood it a little differently but regardless with #erok81 question as long as spring height/rate is appropriate 0 preload will result in best ride quality.

If you have the proper spring height and rate it will give you an exceptable amount of both up/down travel while settling at a close to desired ride height. in your example above if you had 0 preload and were sitting with 1inch of up travel before bump stop you have the wrong springs, likewise if you only had 1 inch of down travel, again wrong springs. In a perfect world you would get the correct spring height/rate to give you desired ride height without preloading. Preload does exactly that adds a load to the spring prematurely as in before you ever hit a bump your spring already has more of a load thus it will inherently be a harsher ride then same setup without preload. Think of a spacer puck lift all that is doing is preloading the spring to gain ride height. Do you think a truck with spacer puck rides as good as one without? Same principle.

What it comes down to is your bolting in coilovers onto a kit. All the geometry is done for you, that's what you paid for. I understand your argument but for your application, it's invalid. Your gonna setup your preload to your preference ie level, brolean, or stink bug. I'm assuming your stock or springunder in the rear so you won't have any adjustment back there. If your building a trophy truck then your shock sizes/shock location/ 60/40 ratio come into play. My trucks linked and I like it to sit as low as possible, but I have adjustment in the rear to go along with the front and that's the way I like it. Set it where you like it and play with it if you want. It is your truck after all
