Why would you keep the stock orientation and not do a shackle flip?

Rewriting my response - figured I wouldn't be lazy and tag @jberry813 to give the answer so I read some of his stuff and going off of what I heard elsewhere lol.

You want more uptravel from the springs hooking onto your truck higher. The shackle flip gets your leaves flat and reverse arched in the area of travel they would be still smiling a little with inverted shackles. Basically from what I understand is you want more smiley through the range of travel to be smiley at high speeds and getting smooth rides.

 

This....shackle flips aren’t the way to go with these trucks.

 

Thanks Chase, very happy to have the new hangers on your truck, I think you'll give them a thorough thrashing with the gravel roads you drive on. You're the only one I know who has ripped a stock hanger in two.

 

So more smiley equals more smileys...got it. I'll have a look at it whenever I do 63s. Maybe even @ARCHIVE will have them readily available by then. But for now I really need to focus on the front.

 

Met with Geoff and he told me the pinion angle is the issue also that my driveshaft needs to be shortened and add a slip yoke from the axle side. He then recommended me to go visit oc driveline and Ray there was really honest and said the pinion angle is fucked up and the perches will need to be removed to adjust the pinion angle to 1 or 2 degrees before they can work on the driveshaft. Do you think my fabricator should charge me to redo this work and get it done properly ?

 

If he charges you, I'd find a new fabricator. Hell you should already find a new fabricator. He should have told you before he returned the truck that you would need driveshaft work just like I previously had told you, you would.

 

I'd consider carefully between him doing it wrong again for free and paying someone to do it right this time. @jeffz0rz won't mess this up - he's in SD county. @Speed Freek is in Vista and could do it if he has time as well. I didn't want to put this on your fabricator sight unseen, but I kind of felt like that was where this was going based on his specs and what people have been getting good results with on here. It'll be nice to have a rebuilt driveshaft once the pinion angle is set correctly - things should ride smooth after that!

My new bushings Id is 9/16. I can only find regular grade 8 with nylock nut. Nothing flanged. Would that be enough for holding a uca bushings in place?
