This dealer just sent me these by text. Says by law they have to check the frame and it has to pass.

who knows what we are supposed to do? I looked at the frame as asked and I'm done. BTW - WTF do I get for doing so?

I like the fact the dealer showed all the spots except the one that rots out....

I think its about a foot foward of where the fully boxed frame ends, on the inside of the rails.

NO, not my truck. It's a truck I'm looking at. I had asked the dealer to send me pics of the frame. Dealer is saying it passed all of their frame tests that are required in Pennsylvania.

The frame looks ok for 151k in the rust belt. I would want pictures of the rot spots before I traveled. A little power wash, a little prep, a little rust converter, and a top coat and you should be fine.

I agree, that is not horrible and while it has cancer, I think the chemo would work.

Read through 18 pages of that thread...the OP won. Can't believe Toyota is dropping the ball again on second gen frames. Didn't they learn this the first damn time? And this truck spent its life in Kentucky!! They have mild winters.

I'd pass personally. What are you going to use it for, for how long and at what price? No 2007 is going to be completely rust free no matter what so it's just a question of your comfort level. It needs to TLC if you get it. Don't just forget it like the previous owner(s).

I'm kind of leaning that way. It is a third vehicle. For my landscaping business. Not a daily driver. Of course I want it to last...but I don't want a rusting through frame Tacoma.

I think it actually has to have holes in it before they will replace it.

That's not bad at all, especially for those miles, my '06 was much worse. If you're worried about it, POR15 it. I'm sure that it has no holes in it with that little bit of rust. It's not neglected, its just PA.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at in picture #1, but the dog leg for the cab mount is where mine got the worst and that one looks pretty good.

Ask him what the brake lines look like and if the e brake works.... then take a good look at the trailer hitch and see how rusty it is.
