I came across this video today of a 93 Ranger review. Stay with me people... In light of the buzz and recent launch of the Ranger Raptor I thought it's a good time to sit back, crack a beer, and take some time to have a good laugh. Seriously watch it to the end.

    https://youtu.be/FfScsbMOI7o

Its easy to get caught up in TW, pick our trucks apart and expect perfection, but just look how far we (the segment has come). See vid link above if you can bare it.

Take it or leave it (Raptor or ZR2) -competition in the segment from Ford, Chebby, Nissan etc will continue to drive improvements in engineering and design for our rigs.

Enjoy your truck in the meantime! Turn the radio up to hide the diff howl and blast your favorite album via satelite information being sent to your hand held device while comfortabley cruising at 70 mph on your "biggest tire possible without lifting."

Except for the power seats part! And the MPG.
We have come a long way! LOL. Look at that little piece! Less than 200 hp V6? Almost 10 sec to 60? 140 feet non abs braking? Cant tow worth shit?
Traction control? Whats that? Curtain airbags? I can list 1000 more.

    Did you watch the video?

Here it is one more time.

    Stay humble friends.

I bought a 95 Ranger brand new and drove it 11 years. The last few it was literally rusting apart. Nephew bought it and continued the rust repairs.

Simple.. it’s a ford but I prefer it to what we have now.
Compact Dakota. Best truck I ever had.

Except for the tranny. Mine made it to 1k over the warranty. Replaced ECM twice. But yeah overall was a good truck. Still get an occasional email from the old bulletin board for the Dakota, has to be at least 12 years or more since sold mine. Bought it new a year or so before they updated the body style. At least they were easy to work on when you had to.

Ahh the days of 4:3 TVs. Now all about that 4K HD.

I drove a 2000 Ranger just before my second gen. I actually preferred that in some ways over the Taco. Good transmission and no electronic nannies every time you get close to chirping the tires.

It was front drive. You're right, first car is always the best no matter if it's a POS.

Check out the TFL you tube video of it on the stats. That thing is as wide as the F150 Raptor (within 2 inches)

I had an 82 Ranger 4x4 V6 4sp manual. It was washed up at 75mph. I used to commute on the Merrit parkway in CT going as fast as that little thing could go and would still be passed by just about everyone. Nice truck but vinyl seat without a headliner and rubber floor was chilly in the winter.

That’s about $29k today. Pretty similar performance and fuel economy to the 4 cyl 2017 I bought, but I have 2 back seats, 4 wheel ABS, CD player, cruise control, heated mirrors, keyless entry, backup camera, tons of airbags... for less than $27k.

Things have changed, and I’m pretty happy with it :D

There was a Chevy "like a rock" truck commercial from the 90's where a load of pipes (or similar) was dropped from an obscene height into the bed of a Silverado and it was filmed in slow motion. Thought it was pretty bad-a$# when I was a teenager. The whole body flexes like crazy and I'm sure the frame and suspension were toast, but as a kid I didn't know any better. Can't find any videos, maybe not using the right keywords in my search. Does anyone remember it?
