Agreed. I actually switched my wheels to 17s specifically so I could run them in C-load.

    Too few to list.
This is the reason I didn't go with BFG. 265/75R16 in E is heavy. Duratracs in C are 45lbs vs KO2's in E at 53 lbs.

45 lbs is heavy enough.....an extra 8 lbs is overkill. C rated tires are far more than capable of carrying the weight that even a re-sprung Tacoma can safely carry, provided they are inflated to proper psi, and in good condition. E rated tires, among other possible liabilities, cause a lack of "feel" of the road. They are just too rigid and too heavy when inflated to a safe operating pressure in most cases. I've ran C's and E's on various Tacoma's.

Worth mentioning....E rated tires are 10 ply RATED, but no one makes a true 10 ply E rated tire. Most are 2 or 4 ply sidewalls and 6 or 8 ply in tread area. The rating is load carrying capacity, which is comparable to 10 ply tires of yesteryear.

I had the duratracs, but not the others. Overall, I had a bad experience with them.

The positives were long tread life, mpgs didnt suffer too much, good in the snow when new. Downsides were terrible wet traction intermittently. There were times when it was like driving up a snowy hill with no treads with these tires. Going around turns and the ass end would constantly kick out. This all on just a wet road. Vibration issues were pretty constant with these tires. When they have some mileage, road noise gets really bad. I certainly would never buy these again!

About a month ago I put a set a of Falken Wildpeaks AT3 on.

Good choice. I don't think you will be sorry. I'm biased though...never owned a different tire in my life. From K/O's to K/O2s. They handled the sand well when I lived in FL and now performing just as well here in OR.

After tire install I went to have the alignment done and they told me the drivers side bearing is shot. I had the passengers side bearing replaced around 30,000 miles and now at 45,000 the other one is bad! Hard to believe they would go that fast. I have had many Toyotas over the years and only one wheel bearing has been replaced and that was with 200,000 on it. Toyota will pay and as I understand they will have to do the alignment so I guess that worked out. Was there a bad batch of wheel bearings in the 2nd gens?

I worked with a guy with a 2nd gen that replaced a few wheel bearings. He was told it was fairly common on his early 2nd gen

They replaced the bearing but wouldn't align it, so took it back to the other shop and they said it's still lose. I jacked it up and there is a lot of play on the one wheel. Toyota said they are not trained enough to be trusted. So I have to make another appointment.

Which way is it loose? All directions, top to bottom, or side to side? Bad bearing will be loose in all directions. Side to side will be bad tie rod ends. Top to bottom will be bad ball joints.

Only problem with that is dealing with the CT monkeys working on your vehicle. Fountain Tire will sometimes do the 4 for the price of 3 deal, but that's harder to find.

Yeah it moves in all directions. I dropped it off this morning at the stealership and they just called and said they had 3 techs look at it and yep, its a bad bearing. He said it must of been a bad one they put in last Thursday. What are they chances of that ? I noticed on the work order they gave me last Thursday that it says they replaced that same wheel bearing last fall. I know the drivers side was never done. The passengers was done around that time. My service records from the Toyota website do not have anything on this. I am going to have them show me there copy of that work order with my signature. When I asked the service manager about it he said the dates and millage don't always match with the website. that still doesn't explain not ever having that bearing replaced. I really don't want it showing that I have had it done three times.
