    yeah i know i was hoping id find someone looking for my predator step sides so i could either trade straight up for a nice gun or sell my step sides . id prefer a diff. brand. rock island are not as reliable i hear..

    From what I've read, (I don't own one) they are very good "entry level" 1911s, and are very reliable. Any brand "can" have some issues. I'd like to have one, just as a knock around .45, one I wouldn't be all worried about getting scratched/worn and could just leave in he truck.

    IMO you can't beat a Springfield for the money. I've got 2 and would trust either of them to save my life...the 3" is actually my carry gun lol

    You can pick up a standard Springfield 1911-A1 for under $600 brand new.

    Don't mean to high jack your thread, just sharing info...

    This is a Springfield 1911-A1 "Loaded" model in .45 ACP. I can easily take the lid off of a coke bottle from +50ft. It's one of the best shooting pistols I've handled.

    This is my .45ACP carry gun. Springfield 1911-A1 Micro Compact Lightweight Operator (mouthful). It's a great gun all around...
