I would like a narrower stance than what I have now. Currently I’m running 285/70r 17’s on a set of Black Rhino Arsenals in 17 x 9.5” with -18 offset. With this current setup, the tires stick out more that I’d like. I like the wheels, but they don’t give you many options for width or offset. I’d like to stick to the same height & style of wheel, didn’t know if a narrower tire will help. I really don’t understand the whole positive / negative offset, maybe someone can explain it to me where I can understand it. Do I need to go with a different size of wheel, if so, what do you recommend? What would you guys suggest I do to make a narrower footprint? Pictures for ideas would be great also. You guys are awesome!

A narrower tire isn't going to help you. It will just look stretched on the wheel. You're more or less stuck with the fitment. If you want a more conservative fitment than what you have now, but more aggressive than stock, something like 9" with an offset of -12 is pretty common. That pokes MAYBE a half inch outside of the flares with a 265 tire. Sounds like you might have been happier with the 16x8 -10 with a spacer for this particular model.

You won't NEED them, but they should be more flush than stock

I would go with 0 to a -10 depending how much poke you want. Lots of options in 0.

    I give a 3rd or 4th to a 0 offset. On a 9.5” wide wheel like you’ve got now the wheel/ tire would move inward about 3/4”. 18/25.4=.708”
Take a look at the website willtheyfit.com
And you can start plugging in numbers.
If it were me I’d look for a narrower wheel as I don’t like the stretched out sidewall look. If you found an 8.5” wheel then you’d get away with more Negative offset. This is where the website will help you with the visual aspects.

Smaller tire, 265/70/17, on a Toyota rim, but no spacers, no rubbing, sits in the well, and a common tire size.

I think you want to maintain backspacing of around 4.5" on whatever setup you choose

Edit: I'm running stock TRD Pro rims which I believe are 16x7 +12 w/ 4.5" backspacing on 285/75/16 BFGs

You need a less of an offset wheel. Plus you’re on a 9.5” wide rim. There’s nothing you can do outside of getting new wheels
