looking for a new car. suggestions?

you couldn’t be more clueless….I’ve owned an RS4, S4, and now an A4 Allroad (70,000 miles and not one issue) with KW coilovers, sway bars and stage 1 tune and it’s an absolute blast. If you’re riveting take is that SUVs drive like poop, then you’re correct captain obvious…thanks for the heads up.

 

Opinions are super helpful but when you are spending this much on a car you want proper data. I would recommend buying a 1 month subscription to consumer reports which compiles a shit load of meaningful data and review and ranks these kind of things. It will probably coast you less than $20 and will be the best money you spend car shopping. Forget everyone's opinions, look at the data.

Congrats on the Forester OP.

What's the general consensus on most of <$30k vehicle options going to CVT? Are there any reliability or performance benefits or is it all about lowering costs and meeting EPA mpg standards?

 

I'm pretty sure that's just a list of every SUV under $30k.

 

Don't forget ruining the driving experience so the forced transition to EVs meets with less resistance.

 

Nice! There are a lot of factors that go into a car being a good buy, the Forester checks quite a few boxes

 

Well hopefully the forester is reliable like my tacoma. Or at least not as unreliable as our vw was.

 

We were also looking in this general price range and mission and went with a Hyundai Kona N-line.

Modern tech/dash, AWD with a locking diff, reliable forced induction 1.6T and 8 speed gears (competitors all had CVT.) They're selling under MSRP here.

I do like the Subarus and they were in our final running.

 

we looked at the Kona too and almost pulled the trigger. Decided on the forester for the space plus I was able to get the ext. warranty at a very reasonable price.(cvt makes me nervous)

 

I've had some experience with Subarus, and I think they’re solid cars, especially the Crosstrek. It's reliable, good on gas, and handles well in all weather conditions. Plus, the $28k MSRP with no markups sounds like a decent deal.
