You should be able to do muuuuch better than that. I just bought my used 2010 DoubleCab Off-Road w/A-Trac & locker w/ 15k miles for $27k.

Be patient and you'll find the right one and you'll be glad you waited and got what you wanted.

Yeah I do have a budget. A new truck is an option if the stars all line up. Right now they are asking $33,000-$34,000 for a 2011 TRD Off Road. That price has gone up $2000.00-$3000.00 in the last week here locally? Maybe I will wait for the 2012 to come out, and maybe the 2011 price will go down?

Also check your local Craigslist -http://kpr.craigslist.org

Search first for "Toyota Tacoma" in for sale. Then once results come up, you can choose "For sale - by dealer" or "for sale - by owner".

Also what about this - http://kpr.craigslist.org/cto/2147269765.html

It's at a credit union in Pasco, so I would guess it's a repo. No pics, but lists a number of upgrades. Doesn't say "TRD Offroad", but does say it has a locker ... so I assume it is. DC automatic. They want payoff - $27k. If they really want it off the books, I bet you could get them down to $24k - not too shabby considering the upgrades it lists - that is provided it's a real lift and not just spacers. Take pics of the suspension (and whatever else you want evaluation on) and post them on here ... guys will tell you what you're getting.

If you then want the comfort of a Toyota extended warranty (since you're dropping a lot of cash, but not buying certified used or new) give this guy a call - Troy Dietrich of Toyota of Greenfield - 413-772-0231. He'll sell you a Toyota extended warranty for around $900 .. if you bought new, the dealer would try to get you for $3000. It's the real deal, and honored at any Toyota dealer. Just an FYI.

PS - I bet you'd save new if you went to Portland or Seattle. All Toyota dealers will honor a Toyota warranty, so if you buy at a distance, your local dealer will still honor the service agreements. If you find an awesome price at a distance dealer, ask the local dealer to match. Neigotiate negotiate negotiate! There are a number of sites online where you can "build" your new Tacoma, and print out an invoice price. You could then take that to the dealer as well. Some are Autobytel and CarsDirect.com - note: I haven't used either. You can ask others what they think.

Is a SR5 TRD Off Road the same as a TRD Off Road? Does it have the Atrac/VSC?

YOu have to be careful when using "sticker" prices on Toyotas when using sites like Trecar and KBB etc. Toyota is owned and distributed by regional franchise dealers who apply their OWN stickers..For example in the SE region (SET) Jim Moran has hte distribution. Goes all the way back to when Toyota first entered the US. He puts $300 MATS and $300 TINT ON THE STICKER.....So KBB and Edmunds and Turecar do NOT reflect true dealer sticker prices and discounts. Toyota is the only car maker I know that does this. The rest have NATIONAL pricing and maybe some differences for those who suffer in California...LOL

Based on what I paid for mine I would say $23,000 if you don't get snow and maybe $25,000 in snow country. Certainly you would not buy a 3 model year old Toyota for $4000 less than you can get the same for new!!

Mine would have cost over $27K new as equipt so I saved $7500 Plus who knows what and it only has 24,000 miles and is basically untouched as far as mods which brings the value up in my book. You should price the same truck out new (at $800 below invoice even) and ofer $7000 less.

Now I bought mine from a Toyota dealer who does NOT sell "certified" cars. I drove 85 miles to Charleston to do so. They can sell for less becasue certification is a marketing tool and not really needed. I can buy a platnium Toyota Service Contract for 7/100K for less than $800 which covers a whole lot more than the "certified" vehicle contract.

I eneded up getting the truck for $2000 less than the "Internet Price" whihc was $2000 less than Lot price. using real ACV money on my trade,

OP - SR5 is an accessory package .. basically the package above base. It gives you things like cruise control, AC, the CD changer stereo system, and power windows.

TRD Off Road and TRD Sport are two other accessory packages that include everything in SR5 plus upgrades ...

In the case of TRD Off Road you get an "off road tuned" suspension with Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, ATRAC (on 2009+ models), digital temp gauge and compass, outlet in bed (pretty useless actually), etc.

TRD Sport gets you a "sport tuned" suspension with Bilstein shocks, a limited slip rear differential, digital temp gauge and compass, outlet, plus 17" rims, , hood scoop, etc.

On a double cab, you can also get an upgraded JBL stereo system with either the Sport or Off Road packages.

So to answer your question, when you see TRD Off Road or TRD Sport, the "SR5" is a given in that everything in that package is inlcuded or upgraded in the TRD packages.
