    Hi,

I live in phx. Sierra looks like they closed down and I’m looking to buy nitro 5.29 gears and have them installed on my 3rd gen Tacoma. Any shop recommendations? I know SDHQ does them just looking for a 2nd quote.

Contact Erick at @state48overland . He will get you all taken care of! They use the same guy that Sierra used for diff set up.

    Another recommendation for zuk here.

Go to his site and you'll see how much attention he pays to all the details. He did my 5.29 regear and Harrop locker install and it was top notch

My buddy is getting 5.29 installed with Zuk as we speak. I've personally never dealt with him but my friend is very pleased so far and has had nothing but great things to say so far.

Zuk did mine too. Super detailed and even text me updates and pics the whole time. He definitely loves what he does.

Zuk is great if you have the ability (and location) to pull your 3rd members yourself. I think that is the one piece of the puzzle that frequently gets missed when recommending him.

That’s true, I had to ask my girlfriend’s sister if I could use her garage twice, to do front and rear gear swaps on separate weekends, I also got my tools, jacks, rugs and extra lighting all together, I also did the research by reading how to’s online and watching YouTube videos. I have enjoy customizing my cars and motorcycles in the past, so for me is a hobby and a good challenge.

The most challenging part of doing the job on my own was pulling the inner axles out and then tapping them back in, while laying on the garage floor with the truck on Jacks and Stands. Doing the Gear Swap with a lift, makes the job a 100 times easier.

There is a Rent-A-Lift Shop in Central Phoenix, that charges around $25 bucks an hour, but for this job it would have cost me a whole lot more. So I saved myself a lot of cash doing it the old fashioned way, in a house garage.

How much are you guys saving having zuk do it versus the other shops that do it all in shop?

trying to see if all the extra steps saves a considerable amount to justify it

I went to Az Diff Specialists off Grand Ave after getting quotes from them and Zuk.. they beat Zuk by a few hundred dollars, and saved me even more during the install. Haven't had a single issue since and it's been years with heavy abuse.

Did you bring them the vehicle and they did all work in house or did you have to take the Diffs to them and then put them back yourself?

    too many, lol
This is another plug for AZ Toy Pros & State 48 Overland 63 E. McKellips Rd. Ste. 123 Mesa, AZ.

I recently had 5.29's installed and my truck runs incredibly great! This should have been the first mod I did to my truck! April 2022.

ZUK did my 529 Nitro gears and still going strong. Had them REM and cryo-treated. The only setback for some people is that Zuk does not do the uninstall and install of your diffs. Your drop off both diffs, and then you pick them up when he's finished. http://gearinstalls.com/

    Interesting...
I had those guys do my '07 Ram way back then and they did a good job. While considering doing my Tacoma, I was wondering if they had any experience with imports. Now I know!
