I have a 2019 TRD sport and tonight was the roughest ride I’ve had in the truck. I’m not a fan of the sport suspension at all. I really want the 6112/5120’s but being out of stock for a while I may just roll with the 5100’s. I don’t want to lift much just level and run 265/70’s once these 265/65’s wear out.

just because it’s a truck doesn’t mean it can’t ride good, I’ve had some very nice riding trucks in the past.

Haha, I don’t know what kind of pimp trucks you drive around, but I’ve owned about a dozen trucks in my life and have driven countless others and my Tacoma rides exceptionally smooth for a mid size pickup.

my Tacoma rides soft, floaty if you will, but is at the same time one of the harshest over road cracks or expansion joints. That’s usually a sign of cheap suspension.

Sounds like you need to move on to another vehicle choice.

Curious though. It would seem you didn't take much of a test drive prior to buying a new $40k truck with crappy suspension. I would have walked if I was that upset with it.

I knew exactly what it was and exactly what I was buying. I don't need to justify my purchase by telling myself what it is or isn't, its the truck I wanted and I was well aware of its shortfalls. I can however be honest about it to myself and don't have to rationalize it to everyone so I feel good about my purchase.

Did I insult your mother or something because you seen to be unable to accept honest criticism of this vehicle.

Try adding at least 100lbs in the bed behind the cab as a starting point for weight. As for rear shocks, see if you can find Fox 2.0 in stock length. Then you will want to do the front though.... These are a little more money than the 5100's but require much less labour up front and will be far superior. Also check your rear tire pressure if you haven't already. With nothing on the rear you can run the rear tires a little lower than the fronts.

    You need reading lessons.

No where did I say your critsism was wrong.

I just don't get folks who spend that much, eyes wide open, knowing about some fairly serious things they dont like.

Often either another marquee or vehicle type is a better choice for the unhappy.

For anyone who thinks a Tacoma has a stiff suspension, I will take you for a ride in my '93 MR2.:D

In spite of having 15" tires with a very meaty sidewall, that MR2 feels every crack and nuance in the road and with 220k kms it still has all original suspension as nothing has worn out. Still has the original stainless steel exhaust as well because in the 90s Toyota really knew how to build cars and trucks that last.

I wonder...I find the TRDOR's rear suspension too soft. That is, until it hits the bumpstop, which is very easy to do...

Are you hitting the stop making it feel too harsh?

What tire pressures are you running? Last time I was at the dealer I left with almost 40 psi in each tire. I usually run around 32 psi. The difference from just 8 psi was huge.

I got a lift and kept the original rear shocks. I swapped em out for sum Rough Cumtry $69 shocks and it rides hella better. @ALI3N_123 can confirm

Get the Bilstein 5100s as suggested. Bigger shock equals better ride. I don't get the nonsense of people telling you to add weight to the back of the truck.. Waste of gas for nothing.

    still nothing

Cool story bro on how you know it all, and anybody you don't like doesn't, but you cannot tell anybody about it. Weird how you could have stopped this whole thing by offering a single relevant piece of information in context to the discussion, yet somehow still cannot do so.
Heck, you could have recommended Teflon sheeting between the leaves and had SOMETHING, but no, still nothing of content to refute my comment.

Take your own advice next time, or are you just going to hang on to this bluster about how much you know but just won't say anything...

Fyi folks, the "ignore" option is amazing. You can avoid seeing useless stuff with it.

So, back to the OP. Easiest thing is adding some weight to the truck. Personal experience, new shocks arent going to do anything for you.
    Ask any leaf apring manufacturer.

    i guess i'm responding a bit different.

first a question, does the rear of your Tacoma have a "jitter" like effect when your truck gets road input? like a high frequency vibration making it feel harsh? this is in basically every Tacoma due to the low quality stock shackle hangers, and this is fixable completely with aftermarket shackle hangers (i use Hammer hangers, BAMF makes them for 3G's as well). my truck had the same symptom you describe more or less before i got to work to fix it.

i have a sway bar, and my truck's rear is fairly firm so i feel planted and feel most everything in the road, but it's not harsh in the least ever, and i run with an empty bed aside from my spare, also with E range tires at 32psi.

i wouldn't normally say every truck needs upgraded hangers bc that's a PITA, but it does sound like your value for road feel and handling make that worth a look just for drive feel. i would be willing to bet that it would make you happy when combined with the right suspension.

A bigger shock doesn't always equal a better ride.
