Note the 'newer' TRD intake as listed above isn't really a performance product. It still uses a basic panel filter. For a performance upgrade you want an enclosed intake which uses a larger surface area cone filter, like the previous TRD intake which is no longer available. I believe it was made by AFE, and you can still buy the AFE Magnum branded version (what I run), there is also a larger AFE Momentum version, though that is less OEM like and interferes with the oil dip stick. Volant also makes an enclosed cone filter intake for the Tacoma. There are several good options, better performing than the current TRD panel filter intake. However, all that said, you will not really experience any usable gains without substantial supporting mods.

I'll probably catch some shit for this and I can't blame ya, but I actually only really want the TRD CAI for the look lol. I couldn't care less about any performance upgrades as I only drive a 2wd pavement princess anyway

Totally fine if that's what you want to do. You can sometimes find the TRD cover, or a good knock off, for the AFE intake and have the best of both worlds. They can be hard to find though.
