    Hi all,

I have a ‘22 access cab with a mid high Leer 180 camper set up. I sleep in the 6ft bed while camping on top a platform I built. Right now I’m trying to figure out the best way to get some shade.

I’m thinking that because it’s narrower on top of the fiberglass canopy that I should install a short bed rack instead of a long bed rack.

would it make sense to Install a 6 or 7 ft batwing awning into that? I’m concerned that it would overhang on each side quite a bit. Though I have no idea if that’s a problem or not..

    thoughts/suggestions?

These are nice and I like that they’re versatile and don’t weigh much. I’m still leaning towards a bat wing though as they seem easier to set up. Thanks for the suggestion though!

This is a good option, but if you are going to spend that kind of money go with the Alucab Shadow Awning. Proven, ranked best awning out there, slightly better designed (in my professional opinion), and no 5 month lead time.

You will like a 270 awning for sure. But these 2000+ options seem crazy. I have the OVS 270 LT, a little smaller but great for 1-2 people. Bought it from Campsaver with a 20% off coupon. Me and a buddy both have the same awning and did several nights on the beach in outer banks through multiple high wind advisories and they held up fantastic with guy lines deployed. I built my own Prinsu style rack which this is mounted to.

Edit: And I will say this was the only time I bothered to use the poles and guy lines. Normally I use this with no poles deployed and have never had an issue. Super fast deployment..

Thanks for the info. I’ll have to give the Shadow Awning look.

These are all fantastic, appreciate the suggestions. I actually decided to go with the Wraptor 4k for a few reasons.

-It’s less than $1000, optional walls were a decent price too
    -It’s less than 50 lbs
-It’s free standing and doesn’t need support poles.
-uses velcro instead of zippers for the walls
    -good reviews

excited to set it up and hit some trails.

That looks to be exactly the same as the OVS270LT but about $100 bucks more.

Still looks good. Let us know how it is when you get it.

Am just about to pull the trigger on an awning for my pending Topo Topper. Not afraid to drop coin, but will an AluCab (or equiv big bucks rig) be that much more stout and easy to deploy than the usual suspects for 40% less $?

Anybody else have a problem with the feng shui? Having a lumpy giant thing making the truck look lopsided? I was thinking about a small rear mount awning, but might get in the way of the topper handles (nobody does it; least not on Top Topper installs...)

even though mine looks huge on the side of the truck I don’t care when I’m sipping a cold beer or cocktail under the vast amounts of shade it produces while looking down on the peons with small awnings and little shade…..:D
