New to the site... glad to be here!
I just got a 2001 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner SR5 Double Cab which I love! However my question is that it is a two wheel drive but it has the TRD Off Road decals on the side... it came a few years ago from my local Toyota dealer as a certified toyota vehicle and the pictures from then show the decals on the side so I know it wasn't recently put on by my grandfather or anything. Just curious as I thought that the TRD was for 4 x 4 trucks.

    Thanks!

TRD is an option pkg for both 4x4 and PreRunners. The main option of the pkg includes the addition of a rear locker. If your truck is indeed a TRD equipped model then it should have a button on the driver's side, right above the left knee and the button should say "RR DIFF LOCK".

Thanks! Looks like it actually is a TRD! Like I said earlier, new to the Taco world and had some preconceived ideas about a 2WD. Learning to enjoy it!

Cool thing about 2x4 prerunner is you can rip around offroad without dragging around 200-400 lbs. of 4x4 driveline! I've done it-these trucks are very formidable offroaders-just can't climb rox.
