I am new to the group. I have just purchased a 3rd gen Tacoma and saying goodbye to my 1st gen. That is very hard BTW, especially given how great a shape it is in. Attached are pictures of the old and the new.

My first question is that I have a new TRD Sport with a valence below the bumper. I want to add shackles but it looks like the valence is in the way. It's supposedly a sporty visual and functional aero piece.

Can I install shackles with this in the way, do I have to remove it or modify it?

    Sincerely
    Rob

Most people favor the looks with the under valance removed. I took mine off and agree.

Just an FYI, the shackles are also a visual and non functional piece when attached to the bumper tie locations.

@the.sight.picture I'm looking at the mod where I add a bracket to the frame underneath the bumper. See link below.

    https://www.amazon.com/salangid-Bra...3e704af4373&pd_rd_wg=pOZd8&pd_rd_i=B08T9HCTP3

I'm not sure what you are referring to with the "bumper tie locations". I do want to go for function over looks but I want to make sure I know the difference before I dive in.

@WRREGL, I'm tending to agree with you and I can removed it anytime.

Unfortunately, I wouldnt use those as recovery points.

I would look into the ARB recovery point, and then a hitch mounted recovery point for the rear.

Upgraded wheels, tires and accessories today. Looking good. Air dam comes off tomorrow as the tires rub against it.
In about 3 months the camper shell will be ready.

Both great looking trucks in cool colors. Agree, I think it will look better without the air dam. What size did you go with on the Falkens?

Honestly, I did not specify. I have to check. I know they rub against the mud flaps, not the air dam. I don't think taking the flaps off will stop the rubbing. I'm doing more research now.

I just had my 2002 red truck detailed yesterday. It goes on the market this weekend.

I've done CMA and asking 15k.
Here's the rundown on base plus my add-ons, which probably no one really cares about.

    2002 SR5 PreRunner, V6, 2WD
    Single owner
    170,000 miles
Added Mud flaps - factory installed
Black door ding strip - factor installed
Camper shell and Bed rug. (picture to come inside, once I remove the wheels in the back).
Thule racks will come with the truck. Original box, keys.
Upgraded aluminum wheels to the alloy wheels on it now.
Bridgestone Dueler At Revo. Amazing handing on this truck, especially wet weather.
Towing package (no brake controller) 4-pin connector.
Added silly springs to keep the truck level when towing a trailer. Big difference in front end control.
Replaced transmission at 100k and added a coolant booster to cool the transmission. Yes I burned the first one out. I've babied it since the replacement.
Front end has been replaced, twice in 1 year. Cosmetic damage only, due to deer.
I did pop-out the sliding window in the camper shell. The cab window is still intact. I like this better as the shell breathes so I never replaced it.
The driver side window will stick going up periodically. It would go up after driving a mile. I was planning to fix this soon.
To keep the red in such good shape, I waxed it twice a year and clay bar every 4-5 years.
